DH and I will be arriving on Friday. Staying at OKW and first time in a grand villa. We will check-in by 10:30 or 11 am. The rest of our guest will be arriving throughout the day. Our DD and her family should be getting there around 1 pm having driven all night (about 14 hrs). What do you think the chances are of the GV being ready? I'm certain they would love to get some sleep but I have warned them that we may not be able to get into our villa until after 4. I could see there being something available if we were arrivng on Sat due to the higher weekend points but I don't know about Friday. Anyone care to make a guess?

Given the size of OKW GVs, I would think that the only way one would be ready would be if it was vacant from the previous night.

For any room it is not a good idea to count on it being ready prior to 4 or 4:30, if it is ready, consider it Disney Magic. But more often than not, it will not be ready when you check-in.

We were in a BWV GV in May as well as a 2br. The 2br was ready by 2pm, and the GV was not ready till about 5pm. So my guess is that you should plan on not getting into your room till at least 4pm.
good luck!

I agree. The GVs take longer to clean, and because of the number of people often staying in them, they are usually vacating close to the 11 AM deadline. I know the last time we had 12 in a GV, we were running around like crazy that morning trying to get everything out of there on time.

I think you are correct in your deductions here. We have always checked into GV on a Sunday and got in early and I do think it was because it was empty the night before. That was especially true the time we checked in on the Sunday after Christmas and had requested non smoking unit. They informed me at check in that they had not been able to give me a non smoking unit but that the manager had had the unit "de-smoked" It was obvious that the villa had been cleaned from top to bottom including the rugs so imagine that it was empty due to the cleaning and rug scrubbing. I was able to check in and get into the room at 8am which was a totally unexpected bit of magic. I would suggest a plan where you could relax by one of the quiet pools. The ones who traveled all night might be able to get a short nap in if you try the one on Miller's road or at Southpoint. Hope you have a great trip - OKW GVs are great.

That's exactly what we are planning to do.lol But I will be hoping for a little Disney magic!! I've only had to wait for our room on 1 occassion but I know it will take longer to clean the GV.

It could happen! We were pleasantly surprised ours was ready at 2pm when we arrived. Totally didn't expect it! Hoping for some magic for you too! :goodvibes

I believe that all other things being equal, Friday is the busiest check out day of the week for DVC. So that doesn't bode well for an early availability. Sorry, but Chuck's advice was right on target.
