Guiding Light!

Well now, that "typing in white" is a pretty nifty idea. LOL. I'm such a dork...

To elaborate a little...

Start highlighting here --->They discovered that something was wrong with Max... Olivia called Jeffrey (who was at the Putt Putt course with Reva... she wanted them to get married there. LOL!), Bill went out to get some air with Lizzie, Remy went to the chapel to light candles. After Jeffrey and Reva showed up, Mel came out with a stricken look on her face, and with her voice shaking, she asked "Where's my brother?" Everyone asked what was wrong, she asked for Remy again, and finally told everyone that Max didn't make it. Bill had tears streaming down his face. Mel went looking for Remy, found him in the chapel and he lost it. It was probably the saddest scene I've ever seen on a soap. Everyone did a great job. Done highlighting.

I got nothing- but on The Poll of the week for CBS soaps there is a question that asks on GL who would you most like to see return. Phillip is listed so I voted for him.

This show is dying a slow death. I must admit this is the least I have ever watched in 25 years. They need to do something

I don't know how they got that Cassie is popular on GL, but she is finally gone:

Forester exits Guiding Light to start family

Guiding Light has lost another of its popular cast members. Nicole Forester, who earlier this year earned her first Daytime Emmy nomination, has confirmed that she has not renewed her contract with television's longest-running soap. The actress joined the show in 2005.

Emmy-nominated Nicole Forester (Cassie Winslow) has opted to leave Guiding Light. The actress' exit is effective immediately, but Forrester's alter ego will remain on-screen for the next few months.

Forester's exit from Guiding Light will no doubt pose another challenge to a show still reeling from the earlier exits of other big-name talent. While fans may be upset that Forester has left the long-running CBS soap, the actress states that her exit was brought about by some very big news.

"Yes, it's true!" the actress said in a statement that confirmed her departure. "I am getting married in October, and I am expecting a baby in February! I am so happy and excited about embarking on these two most wonderful adventures, and I'm so grateful to have some extra time now to embrace them fully."

It's said that Forester made the decision to exit Guiding Light when her contract expired last month, but the actress agreed to stick around longer to allow the show to wrap up her character's storylines. It remains unclear at this time if the show will recast the role.

And Shayne is coming home:

Jeff Branson lands role of GL's Shayne

Jeff Branson is returning to Springfield. The former All My Children star has landed the contract role of Shayne Lewis. Though his first airdate is still more than two months away, the show is very pleased to have the Emmy-nominated actor on his way to CBS. Meanwhile, Shayne hasn't been seen on-screen in more than four years.

As first reported last month by soapcentral.com, Guiding Light has quietly been planning the return of Shayne Lewis. At the time, a show spokesperson told soapcentral.com that the return wasn't a done deal, but that the show was actively seeking actors who might be able to work their magic in the role. Now, the longest-running dramatic series in television history has announced that it has snagged an Emmy-nominated former All My Children performer for the role.

"We're very excited to report that Jeff Branson will be joining the cast," a Guiding Light spokesperson tells soapcentral.com.

This is not the first time that Branson has appeared in Springfield. In 2004, Branson appeared in flashback scenes as a young Alan Spaulding.

But Olivia is staying awhile:

Crystal Chappell has signed a new contract with Guiding Light. The actress, who joined the show in 1999, will stick around Springfield for the immediate future. Though also known for roles on One Life to Live and Days of our Lives, it is Chappell's Guiding Light role that won her a Daytime Emmy in 2002.

Guiding Light fans no longer have to worry about the possible exit of one of the show's leading ladies. Emmy winner Crystal Chappell (Olivia Spencer) has signed a deal that will keep her in Springfield. Rumor has it that the show has already penned a stunning storyline for the actress.

Chappell joined the cast of Guiding Light in July 1999. Prior to that time, the actress had previously appeared on three other daytime drama series -- Days of our Lives, Santa Barbara, and One Life to Live. Chappell's two-year run as OLTL's Maggie Carpenter was the longest of her other soap gigs.

......This time around, the terms of Chappell's new contract were not disclosed. However, the actress will be in Springfield long enough to play out a "very, very different" storyline. While declining to go into further detail so as not to spoil the surprise, Chappell teases that her upcoming storyline is "nothing anybody's ever seen before."

I'll admit, I'm still not watching. But I can't let go completely. I'm keeping up with the spoilers, and did watch the day Reva found out she was pregnant-had to see it to believe it! I'm hoping things get better soon.

me too. It is painful to watch anymore. I wonder what Olivia's new story is going to be:confused3

Sad isn't it. I've watched this show since I was born, and I've seen it twice in 6 mos. I love Reva and Jeffrey, but this storyline kills me.

I like Olivia. I hope her storyline is something to make me want to watch. If it involves her and Grady, I'll just keep reading about it! I can't stand to look at him!

I have been watching for about 25 years - at least. It used to be my favorite. Now I just delete on Tivo before I even watch it. I can't stand Grady. Even if I do watch on Tivo I forward through most of it. I think the new format killed it for me. Then losing all the great actors- Gus, Harley, etc. I think the only thing about now that would tune me back in is Phillip.

Agreed.

I haven't been watching any of them. But while grading papers today I went to CBS.com and watched Wed-Fri's ATWT just to see Dusty. It really didn't thrill me like I thought. Maybe Phillip would fire me up more.

I'm sad as well. I've watched ATWT and GL for 30+ years and two months ago I joined a gym to lose the weight I gained after I stopped smoking. At that time I was still somewhat interested in both. While I do watch while on the treadmill, (it's either that or FOX News about Obama & Mccain) I am so disappointed in both shows. I thought maybe it was me but reading here I see it's just a sad, sad time for these two shows.:sad2:

I can't look at Grady either.

I still watch ATWT - I think it's much better than GL right now. I think they must not have the budgets to put on a good show. That or they need some new writers.

ATWT is much better than GL but still just not up to par with the way they used to be.:sad2:

I agree it is better. But watching nuLily kills me. Seeing her with Holden, and her thin little waist, talking to Faith, I just can't stand it. I grew up with Martha Byrne, and I want her back! I love Dusty, but don't like the Meg angle I see happening right now.

I wonder how they will write her out. Maybe psycho Will will come back and kill her!!
I, too, haven't been watching all that much. I used to DVR it and watch it every night. Now I could care less if I miss it. It's sooooooo boring. I have gotten hooked on All My Children!!! I just love seeing "Gus and Harley" back together. Although they aren't main characters, I have really enjoyed the show and for the most part can follow the story lines.

I've been watching Guiding Light on and off since around 1983. I've never been so disheartened by the show as I am now. I haven't watched in several months, but have checked in here periodically to see spoilers. I'm sad to see that so many beloved characters have left. I never liked the "new" Cassie, so that doesn't bother me.

They need to bring back the meat of the show...the long-standing characters...and stop trying so hard to go for the younger people. They need more substance.

REVA is PREGNANT????????????????
