In Jan or Feb-I'm thinking Feb. There are rumors that GL has until April to get the ratings up, or it will be canceled. I know it is in bad shape, but I can't imagine the show not being there.
Coop is supposedly leaving when his contract is up next month, and Rafe, Daisy, and Ashlee are next. I honestly wish they would concentrate on the vets and leave the teen scene out of it. I love Buzz, Bill and Lizzie, Reva, Josh and Jeffrey, etc. I hope they bring back Phillip with a great storyline, and give his love story with Beth another chance. Give Blake some story-she has been backburnered for too long. Bring back Holly and Ross and Ed. The Baurs need a storyline! The writers just need to tap the history of the show more!

David Andrew MacDonald will return to Guiding Light in 2009. The actor's return is the latest in a series of high-profile role reprisals by big-name former GL stars. MacDonald last appeared in Springfield in 2007. As previously reported, Phillip Spaulding will also find his way back to Springfield in the weeks ahead.

Grant Aleksander rejoins the cast as Phillip Spaulding on February 6th. David Andrew MacDonald returns as the Prince of Darkness - Edmund Winslow on January 22, 2009. Both returns will have huge impacts on Springfield.
Edmund's return will mean big changes for Reva, Josh, Jeffrey, Shayne and Dinah - all of those who he feels have wronged him (or are related to them). With Cassie gone to Hawaii, Edmund's focus is on those who he feels let her move on without him.
Phillip's return (during a wedding, TPTB reveal) will certainly have impact on the Spauldings - Lizzie, Beth and Alan, the Coopers, Olivia and BFF Rick. But which Phillip will be returning? He has something up his sleeve (like Edmund) but we won't know what all they are up to for awhile - which is a good thing.
Beth will share airtime with her other ex-husband (Edmund) as well.
Phillip and Reva will connect now that they share a grandchild (baby Sarah). In the meantime, Reva's big goal is to give birth to a healthy, happy son. Jeffrey and Reva butt heads over her ideas, but Jeffrey does all he can to protect Reva and his son. Reva and Jeffrey will have great scenes with child birthing classes and a huge baby shower. TPTB do promise that despite some close calls, Reva will give birth to a healthy son.
Beth and Coop's relationship comes out into the open - which will bring out a lot of drama for many of Springfield's citizens. With the return of Phillip, and the anger of Alan, can their relationship survive?
With Ava out of Springfield, Remy will grow closer to Christina. He really wants to help her with the goal to become a doctor. She'll be tempted with some dangerous choices, but Remy will use his experience to try to get her back on track.
Phillip's return means more challenges for Rick - and hopefully more airtime! Rick and Olivia's bond over their heart transplants will continue to flourish. Natalia and Frank grow a little closer, finally, and Natalia does something for Frank when he needs a favor the most.
