Guides...

Our guide is Robin Daniels. She is great. She's gone out of her way to answer questions and even got me a BCV pin :)

btw, Shan, i only wanted to switch guides because my first contract was bought resale, so i never dealt w/ anyone for my first purchase.

but, i was having trouble with my old guide when i was trying to do an add-on this week. that's why i switched, because i wanted to feel comfortable with the guide who gets the commission for my add-on.

Hey Melrosgirl. How did you get that BCV pin?
We just put down deposit Monday for BCV and are waiting for our stuff in the mail. Would I be so lucky as the packet comes with this pin?
(We started the whole pin trading nightmare last trip!)

:)

We bought in 2001 and I can't even remember my guide's name. So I guess that answers your question.

Others post here about being contacted by their guides and getting messages from them when they check in, etc.

All I can say is that my guide was nice and helpful when I bought. And he doesn't bug me. Makes him a good guide for me! :)

I think it depends on your guide. I was lucky and my guide sent one (after we closed). hth :)

Well let me say that our guide, Rafael Massa, was awesome, and still is.

We originally took the tour in 93 (couldn't buy at that time for financial reasons) with him, then again in 96 I spoke to him on that trip. I just showed up that day unannounced, and he took the time to see me, and go over things again. Unfortunately we still weren't able to buy. In between I had spoken to him a few times on the phone, both me calling, and him calling checking on us. I would point out he was never pushy, and alway's kind. He even took the time to send us materials from time to time, ie..catalog. Then finally last year we were walking around AK, and ran into a kiosk, so we stopped just to get an idea what the cost was up to, and the gentleman there asked if we wanted to visit the resort once again. I was a bit embarassed to do it again Even though secretly, (meaning I never told DW) that my intention all along was to buy this time. I asked if Rafael was still there (hadn't heard from him for about a year), and he was. I thought for sure he would say, "oh no not them again", but to my surprise he greeted us with open arms, and spent another hour and a half with us. After going over numbers and the MB offer he stepped out of the room for a moment, and then I told DW to get her signing hand ready. When Rafael came back we did it.

It had been 9 years we had gone back and forth. The earlier comment on the "Salesman" certainly doesn't fit Rafael. He saw to it we got extra Fast Passes for the remainder of our stay, and we were off. I email back and forth every now and then with him.

Sorry so long, but I get carried away everytime I talk about DVC.

I am amazed at how strongly some feel against some of the DVC guides! I guess they must have had a very bad experience with a DVC guide. This sounds like it is more the exception than the rule. My guide is Judy Kauffman and she also has called us to welcome us home, sends Christmas cards, has been there from the first purchase, has always answered questions and returned calls very promptly, over the years she has always contacted me with news regarding DVC and is now in the process of selling me an add on at BWV. She has been nothing but wonderful and extremely professional to me for years. I have also had dealings with Celeste who was also very professional. If there are/were truely DVC guides that were so bad to warrant the very derogatory statements that have been made repeatedly about them on this board by some, I think it those guides must be now gone because there seems to more of those with positive DVC guide experiences than horror stories, OR maybe it was a case of people being treated the way they treat others. If someone is rude, degrading and insulting to others they do not usually tend to be treated very nicely in return.

OK, I guess I gotta post so I don't make my guide feel left out, forgotten and lonely. ;)

My guide is Ron Brumbaugh. Actually been in contact with him recently doing a BWV add-on. The wait list actually came through for me about a month ago, so I added on 100 points. I like Ron. He's a good guy. Don't hear from him much. Mentioned to him one time how some people here seem to want to hear a lot from their guide and other's don't, and that it must be hard trying to please them all. He pointed out that he doesn't want to keep pestering people at home once they've bought. So, unless someone tells him they want to be contacted periodically, he only contacts them when there is something special going on, like a resort selling out or something like that. I agree with him on that point and have been happy with his performance.

Our guide is Marc Turner. He is very professional and not pushy at all.He also is the guide for 3 of my brothers and sister. He always returns calls and lets us know if anything is close to selling out or updates.

.

P.S. Marc contacted us the very day that "lenshanem"(OP) bought into the BCV's and let us know about the referral credit ($200) that we would be getting during the next 30-60 days.

Our guide was Nick Tamberrino...and he was great! Showed us the tour, and never pressured us....we bought two years later via phone with him...and he was great. Prompt return phone calls, very knowledgeable..and a very good note taker (he always asked us personal questions from previous discussions we had with him. ie: using my kids names specifically, asking if my husbands work hours had changed, etc....it just made us feel more special, that he kept notes on this, ya know....much more personal)

Linda Streetman handled both my initial purchase and add-on. It has been a pleasure dealing with her.

Oh, and I've gone to the models at BCV and taken a look around and been given a pin. I think you have to be a member to get one. I had two of them but I lost one in Muppets 3D in March - fell right off.

Our guide is also Humberto Santos. He is quite competent and eager to please, but he seems to do a lot of cruises. I guess that means DVC also thinks he's good, but it means you sometimes have to wait a week or so if you want to talk to him.

When I read Richyam's comment, I thought it was unfortunate, but that he was probably talking about general public perception of timeshare salespeople, rather than his own opinion. Let's cut both the guides and Rich a break!

My guide is Roland Lammers. Bought OKW back in 1998 before it sold out. I don't hear from him but I do get the flyers telling me about offers that have his name on it. :)

Our first guide..Mike Something...was a hard salesman and awful...I requested a new one and he has been wonderful Dave Kreuzter...

Thanks Coach Rick....

Our guide was also Rafael. Thanks for the reminder of his name. :)
