Guidebook?

I bought the Disney World book by the Birnbaums but it has me confused even more. Can anyone tell me about another book that might be better?

Try the Passporter series. It's spiral bound, but has a great breakdown for each park.

I've tried both Passporter and Unofficial Guide. I lean more towards Unofficial Guide.

Unofficial Guide! It's full of great info. I especially like the restaurant & hotel reviews/suggestions. The writers also have a good sense of humor.

the Passporter deluxe! I haven't picked up an Unofficial Guide in years, never much of a fan of their humor. The Birnbaum's is good as a starter guide, it's mostly "official" information that is published whereas the other two have more feedback from visitors.

I'm just THRILLED to see you recognize a need for a guidebook BEFORE you get there! That's a huge step! It will make your trip SO MUCH nicer.

I like the Unofficial Guide. I'll qualify that by saying that I've never used the Passporter, though.

I have both passporter and unofficial guide. For the basics I love my passporter because I can just look up something quick but my unofficial guide is the MEGA GUIDE BOOK! with tons of info.... I LOVE LEN TESTA!

I'm partial to the unofficial guide but I also just returned from my first TourGuideMiKE trip and his green/yellow/red days worked like a charm! I followed his daily park suggestions because they explain more than the Unofficial Guide BUT I did us the Unofficial Guide Touring plans.

We're going on our first WDW trip this Oct. and both the Unofficial and Passporter were recommended by friends. Of course, I had to buy them both!! (Luckily, Amazon had pretty good prices.) They are both great resources!

I like both the Passporter and Unofficial Guide. I write all my info in the Passporter (ADRs, etc.)and I'm bringing it with me and the Unofficial Guide is good because it gets into a little more depth than the Passporter.

I haven't used TGM. I love my unofficial guide though. It reviews practically everything.

I agree. I bought the unofficial and it's be great in helping us plan. I like to hear all the opinions they have from other park visitors. However, it is a big book and sticky notes are very helpful in tabing the pages that are useful.

I used TGM for our last trip and he was quite useful. I didn't use his touring plans because he really doesn't give you any. He gives you the tips to make your own as well as a "Sample". The Unofficial Guide ones work perfectly for DW and I. Although, his viewing locations, green/yellow/red days were definitely worth the price. BTW, you can probably find some sort of discount code around...if you need to be referred to get one just drop me a line and I'll hook you up. I'll be using him again for sure simply for the best days indicator. I realize that the Unofficial Guide provides the same sort of information but TGM actually gives you a reason behind his suggestion. For the most part the Unofficial Guide and TGM see eye to eye on the best/worst parks...but not always!

On the other hand, is you're a DIS Veteran you should be able to make out just fine because you'll know a lot of the tips and tricks simply from the forum.

I realize I sound like a fence-sitter but here's what I'm saying in a nutshell: both the Unofficial Guide and TGM are great, both give awesome information, if you're willing to shell out another $20 then its definitely worth is. If you're on a strict budget then you might want to continue surfing on the FREE DIS boards.

Feel free to ask me anything else! I'm not a DIS Certified "Veteran" but I do know a thing or two about touring WDW and a few little secrets of my own!

I just got my first copy of the Passporter. I ordered the deluxe one (and I am not going back until 2010 but I just couldn't wait). It is really neat. I am looking forward to checking out some of their ebooks also. Only 1201 more days!!!!

I've used the Unofficial Guide, & thought it was wonderful. I'd highly recommend it.

I' ve read almost everything that's available. I don't buy, get them from the library. I'm not going to carry around a book, so I just take notes & make up my own little notebook to carry with me. I do subscribe to tourguidemike & have found it useful esp for our last trip which was a grand gathering. I was the trip organizer & it was much easier to print out info & give to everyone than to try to have everyone read a book. I also liked the trip report & other info sheets that I printed out from the mouseforless.
