Guest Test of Magic Bands (Official Notice)

You, and everyone else. Later FP+ slots for headliners will be the difficult ones to get. I'd expect most of them to be booked at 60 days out once the system is in full swing.

But that's the rub.

This will be the new norm for us hardcore people (which I consider DIS users to be, the 1% of parkgoers who plan and know all the ins and outs)

I don't think it will be "everyone else" at least not for a while, but it WILL be all the DISers.

You know what would make this really interesting? Everyone thinks they want the later FP slots, right? Well, on the last FP test, once they had redeemed one of their slots they could add another FP from what was still available in the same day pool. So does everyone then STILL want late day FPs? You could then go for earlier FP times hoping you could translate that into MORE slots. But there's no way of knowing if anything worthwhile would even BE left.

FP roulette anyone?

On a day with EMH evening hours at MK:

Park 1: Rope drop Epcot and ride everything I want to ride, early lunch at a World Pavilion.
Park 2: All afternoon at DHS with 4 FP+'s to ride.
Park 3: MK for evening and ride what I want to ride for the last hour or two before closing.

Genius! and if you switch park 1 and park 2-- you have one bus ride early in the morning-- then boat or walk, and monorail---- how Disney would that be!

They won't lose out my my hopper fees.

Get to park at rope drop, have my FP+ at 2nd park I plan to hop to. Best of both worlds.

I can go to AK in the am at RD and go standby on the lines, but know that I will have FP+ tickets for Soarin, Test Track and Malestrom later in the day.

It might encourage others to get hoppers.

It will definitely encourage locals to go to park later in the day because they would be assured of getting FP tickets.

I don't think it will take long for others to catch on. Social media and discussion boards will take care of that. Not to mention human nature. Isn't the whole selling point that you can now ride TSMM without being there at rope drop?

I still want to know how they are going to keep AP holders from booking TSMM every day of every weekend 60 days out. Or maybe they won't?

This-- the DISers and the like will have a window-- maybe for a couple years tops? where we are ahead of the learning curve. like it was with fp.

sorry to quote you again-- not stalking you from the other thread! lol

This is where I think the fpp will be linked to reservation and not passes-- still waiting to have some info shown that says otherwise.

No problem. I think it's a lot of the same folks on both threads.

I'll be very curious to see how this goes. But I was thinking everyone would be able to load in a ticket number to access the FP+ reservation system. If that's the case and AP holders can access it freely, then all bets are off. And if that is the case at WDW, just WAIT until the replicate the system at DLR where APs are an even larger share of their ticket base.

but the people complaining on this board are complaining about not being able to ride TSMM 5 times in one day anymore ;)

Yes, eventually word will get out like ADRs but how many people are seen at the park who still think you need to pay for FP?

The casual vacationer will still have a much lower usage of FP+ compared to the above average to hardcore parkgoer IMO

Where was this stated? I haven't kept up on all these threads (I was enjoying the break before that danged FAQ dragged me back here!) but I was under the impression that you got 3 (now 4) and that was it, regardless of when they were booked.

Are you saying testers could prebook up to 3 (now 4) and then book more, as long as they never held more than 3 (now 4) concurrently?

If so, that makes a substantial difference to me, if that's the case, there is a glimmer of hope. If they somehow manage to not run out of FP+ before the day of my park visit, which I still don't think is the case, just trying to be not completely devastated by this :(

Not really. I don't know anyone who did TSMM 5 times in one day. I did RnR 5 times in one day though. :) But apparently that won't happen again.

Complete guess, but I'd say the impact the AP base could have on the FP+ reservation system is greater than the impact of guests doing a ride more than once in a day previously.

And I thought that being an "insider" would give me a leg up when they opened Be Our Guest reservations last August. HAH! Then I saw that their facebook page announcing that date had 33K likes. And I knew I was in trouble.

Being an insider isn't what it used to be.

I thought I read somewhere that when they had a reservation at WDW, it would be like everyone else.

When they did not, and were planning something like a day trip, there would be a limit on the number of FP+ selections every quarter.

But, I can't remember where I read that information...

I haven't mastered quoting from my phone so bear with me. Re: AK in am and having FP+ for Soarin', Test Track and Maelstrom - can you get more than one headliner? Or will you have to choose between Test Track and Soarin'?

It would be terrible if APs could have free reign. and I have one. It wouldn't work, along with the non expiring tickets. The more I read any discussion on fpp, the more I am convinced it will be on site only. ( for pre booking)

They could set limits. But I think the real advantage will be for package guests, who might get to book at 60 days for the length of their stay (plus 10 or 7 or whatever)....Just guessing....

Matt

That's apparently how it worked in the last round of testing.

That was sort of debunked and hasn't reared its head since earlier in the year.

I would think that DIS could easily shut off AP holders who were abusing the system. But I think that the abuse would be very rare.
