Guest Test of Magic Bands (Official Notice)

I still want to know how they are going to keep AP holders from booking TSMM every day of every weekend 60 days out. Or maybe they won't?

Yes, this is a big unknown. They will have to do something, they can't allow unlimited reservations for AP holders.

How many people have AP's? Of the daily attendance in a park are AP holders a tiny fraction, or a substantial number?

I would think that DIS could easily shut off AP holders who were abusing the system. But I think that the abuse would be very rare.

I disagree. There are still plenty of people "abusing" ADRs by holding multiple reservations just in case they need them.

Funny, I missed that, was it posted somewhere?

Not saying I don't believe you! I do, I just am amused I missed it.

Matt

Maybe someone else will chime in. I think it was whatsarahsaid who reported it. I was surprised too.

Regardless, I was not optimistic about adding more same day after reading the FAQs linked last night.

I also think it was sarah.

My head spins from all this back-and-forth. Ready for them to just do it already.

This is where I think the fpp will be linked to reservation and not passes-- still waiting to have some info shown that says otherwise.

I really hope this is not the case! I don't think Disney can turn off so many off-site guest. There are many families that go to Disney that can't afford to stay on-site or have timeshares and Disney wants their money just as much as on-site guest. My family may not put any money into the Disney resorts but I contribute plenty of money to the parks. This would be a real deal breaker for us. We have been to Disney 10 times in the past 12 years but we will not be making yearly trips anymore if Disney pushes our family into SB lines only. That would be very bad PR for Disney!!

Please don't make me go back and reread this thread! :lmao:

And I'm ready too. Just rip the dang bandaid off already.

About getting additional after you use the first one:

http://disboards.com/showpost.php?p=48843051&postcount=1026

and

About changing an existing FP+ reservation to get multiple rides where you had already used a FP+:

http://disboards.com/showpost.php?p=48898931&postcount=1389

Thanks for doing that! :thumbsup2

As I said though, I really was not at all optimistic about that after reading the FAQs last night. But it sure would present an interesting wrinkle and make the morning return times more popular.

You can reserve up to 4. You don't have to reserve 4. That is the upper limit. They can add more based on the other variables, either to reserve but probably same-day. They would not say 4 and then not give it to you. 4 is far less than some people get now. They are not going to limit people to 2. I suppose if things got bad they could go back to 3, but I don't think that is what they mean, either. Also, this is talking about reserving ahead of time. We don't know what they might do same-day. The old system will go away, but the ability to give out FP+'s same day remains a possibility.

Q.
If I don’t reserve access to FastPass+ attractions in advance, will I be able to experience my favorite attractions at the theme parks?

A.
All attractions still provide a standby queue—assuming they are not closed for refurbishment. If FastPass+ experiences are still available, you can reserve access to FastPass+ attractions and entertainment online with your mobile phone or at a FastPass+ kiosk when you arrive at the park.

The part in bold doesn't look good for day of FP+s!!

I am another whose head is spinning. We have a DVC reservation for Sept. DH and I have AP's, the remainder of the group have tickets that I purchased from UT. Our stay is 10days. Their tickets are for 5 days. We have 8 park days planned and the "plan" was to add additional days to the tickets once we arrived.

So I am confused. If I link the tickets, and if FP+ is available to reserve for my Sept trip will I only be able to reserve for some members of my group for 5 days ahead of time and the remaining days take potluck after we add days to those tickets?

I linked my AP's... a mistake I think. But did not link the UT tickets yet.

On the FAQ's, it states...
I am FastPass+ eligible, but I did not reserve access to FastPass+ attractions in advance. When I arrive at the theme park, can I still get FASTPASS tickets?

A.
No. If you are FastPass+ eligible and you entered the park with a ticket linked to My Disney Experience by using your MagicBand or card, you are not able to use FASTPASS service.

But don’t worry! If FastPass+ experiences are still available, you can reserve access to FastPass+ attractions and entertainment online with your mobile phone or at a FastPass+ kiosk when you arrive at the park.

If you are not FastPass+ eligible, you are still eligible to use FASTPASS service. All FASTPASS tickets are subject to availability and are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Over the coming months, Guests with select Magic Your Way vacation packages will be notified that they may participate in MyMagic+ testing, which includes FastPass+ eligibility.

How do I know if I am FP+ eligible?

Also add in: my Refilable mug now has a RFID chip... I have separate but continuing reservations... If I get the DDP and get the mug on day 1, is this mug a "length of stay" or am I going to get multiple mugs? And if I am only getting 1 mug, do I get a discount on my DDP when I change from QuickService Plan to Regular Dining Plan?

I usually enjoy planning and anticipating my Disney vacation. This vacation has seemed more of a pain. I am mentally exhausted. I have viewed the park schedules, made dining reservations and now have to decide which ride I want to ride.... its just TOO MUCH.
I work extra shifts all year long to pay for my Disney fun and now it just doesnt seem like fun. So for us, we will continue to play with Mickey, but a Disney PARKS vacation will be taking a break... I'm thinking Disney Cruise Line may be more for us..... no planning... I just show up and the FUN just happens.

..... all it takes is asking your guests to give up any semblance of spontaneity on their expensive vacations.

No arguments there....that's the direction hey have been going for awhile.

This is where I think the fpp will be linked to reservation and not passes-- still waiting to have some info shown that says otherwise.

They can't tie pre-book FP+ to a reservation without alienating all the day guests and offsite guests. And EVERYTHING including the brand-new FAQ says it is tied to valid admission, and not a reservation.

I would think that DIS could easily shut off AP holders who were abusing the system. But I think that the abuse would be very rare.

Same here. It would be incredibly easy for them to track abuse, and place limits on abusers. Although they should add that to the terms and conditions.

Honestly, I don't think they've 100% decided how to handle AP holders yet.

That remains to be seen. Disney has not yet confirmed the RFID mugs that I have seen.

I can see a DDP mug being coded for the exact length of stay, especially if the LOS is less than four days, and expiring even though you have a connecting reservation. If you have another DDP on the second res, you'd get another mug. If not, you might be required to purchase a mug.

I grew up in a home with no air conditioning. Yet oddly enough I have absolutely no nostalgia for hanging out anywhere without it these days.

I will have the same issue as you with the FP limitations. I just don't know what that means for our future with Disney. I won't go somewhere I don't feel I'm getting a good value. I'm sure I will still enjoy shorter days in the parks with fewer trips through our favorite attractions. But I will be looking at it in terms of what we paid to be there. And if I don't feel I got value, I will not feel good about it.

We're doing DLR this year so no WDW on the horizon for us until maybe December 2014. All I can do is watch and wait. And see how this pans out before we decide how this pans our for our future with Disney.
I agree with you. My future with Disney is in question. I've had APs twice (despite having to fly to FL), and non-expiring 10 day tickets. I held off buying a new 10 day non-expiring before the prices went up, because depending on how this system actually works, I may not use 10 days in the future. Sad to say.

They won't lose out my my hopper fees.

Get to park at rope drop, have my FP+ at 2nd park I plan to hop to. Best of both worlds.
That's great, but please remember that even in the DIS world of those "in the know", there are a lot of us who are not rope droppers. I have never been to a rope drop and doubt that I ever will. I don't want to have to get up early for vacation. I have to do that for WORK! I go during slower (non-school vacation) times, and even without rope drop, have gotten a lot of FPs and hopped and been able to do many of the attractions I've wanted to.

My last visit, SB lines were so bad, and the ratio of FP to SB guests was about 10 to 1, that I was extremely frustrated. Even more so since the wait times listed were half of what the wait times actually were.

If the FP+ to SB ratio doesn't improve, the SB lines will become virtually worthless to me. And then Disney is no longer a value or a place where I know I can always have a good time.

If FP+ results in me spending more time in line to ride the attractions I want to ride, then it won't increase my spending on meals and souvenirs. It will increase my spending on non-Disney vacations.

Not really. I don't know anyone who did TSMM 5 times in one day. I did RnR 5 times in one day though. :) But apparently that won't happen again.

Complete guess, but I'd say the impact the AP base could have on the FP+ reservation system is greater than the impact of guests doing a ride more than once in a day previously.

And I thought that being an "insider" would give me a leg up when they opened Be Our Guest reservations last August. HAH! Then I saw that their facebook page announcing that date had 33K likes. And I knew I was in trouble.

Being an insider isn't what it used to be.

Once again, you are dead on. I mean, really, how many people on here have said: "Hey, I can RD one park and have late FP+ at another!!!! That will work perfectly! I'm a genius!"

Anyone who thinks about it at all will figure this out. Not to mention TSMM late FP+ will ALWAYS be wanted, since you'll want to use one before getting in line for Fantasmic.

I think the odds of getting PM FP+ for any major rides in anything but the lowest of crowd times, WITHOUT an onsite ressies, and 70 day window is going to be pretty much zero.

Disney has said nothing that a reasonable turbo user should read and go "hey, that's great news".

And if the MAX 4 FP+ is true, which the legalise definitely is pushing me to believe, Disney clearly doesn't' care about turbo users anymore. Just like Sprint/AT&T/Verizon hate turbo bandwidth users.

And I think APs will fall into the same category. Why would Disney offer up tons of FP+ to folks paying a MUCH lower per day entry fee? Especially folks that are likely large PM FP users. Although, this could spell the end of APers going to the parks after work, or on weekend evenings, since they won't have much to ride except standby. But does Disney care? And if they ARE allowed to get FP+ for all the weekend evenings, it makes the other guests have a worse time. And visiting Fri and Sat night will be useless.

I can't even imagine this system at DL.

Jason

Is it because I'm in Canada or is the FAQ page not working? I keep getting a 404 page error.

It's because you are in Canada (as am I).

We do not have access to the My Disney Experience website in Canada yet. I've been told multiple times by Disney IT that they don't know when we will have access to it. The only way we can access it now is if you have IP masking software like Tunnelbear that "fools" your computer into thinking you have an American IP address.

That's pretty pathetic considering I'm a paying customer and I thought Disney was all about the customer experience.

There could be legal considerations, which is why the site is generally not available outside of the US yet. I don't know what they'd be, offhand...

But just consider yourself currently ineligible for FP+, and continue to use FP as always :)
