I'm planning on a custom wedding, but I'm not sure how many people would actually come to the wedding after I invited them, due to money, time constraints, etc. I'm still in the planning stages and everything, and I had a question for everyone: For your weddings, how many guests did you invite, and how many were able to come to the wedding?

for destination weddings I typically say a lower number but for some reason Disney weddings tend to pull bigger numbers despite the cost. We were orginally expecting around 60. Well we invited 125 people all from NY and we ahve 104 people coming. Once everyone heard Disney they planned an entire vacation around it.

I'll agree with that! i thought id invite everyone but probably end up with only a handful from my family! especially as its from the UK and near xmas - well i was wrong all of my family said yes lol!

We invited 180 pp, and 76 came. Most of DH's family didn't come because they didn't support our marrige since we got married in Disney. :sad2:

we invited 75, we have 52 attending.

17 days until were married at wdw! :bride: :groom:

We invited about 75 and right now our number is around 46 people coming. I originally thought a lot more people were going to come, so I did my best to keep the guest list down.. but then things came up for a lot of people and we're down to 46. It's actually kind of nice to be that low, but now I feel bad I didn't invite more people... but oh well :)

I think you have to know your customer:) We were told the attrition rate was higher for Disney weddings, thankfully they were wrong!! We invited 286 and had 99. I think it was mostly due to the fact that about 100 of the people we invited I had never even heard of while we had been dating for four years (just a side of the family that is very spread out and doesn't connect very often) and then the other factor was that my invite to the Disney guests gave them an option of Disney or at home reception--it was a nice out for those that really weren't all that interested in coming to Disney:)

I am having the same problem trying to finalize my guest list. Just on my side of the family we have 136. Its so hard to figure out! I havn't even starting oh my finacee's side of the family.

Codie,
How did list your response cards listing the 2 receptions? Did you only give a choice of one or the other? My problem is alot of people that will be attending Disney I would like them at the home reception as well. I am not sure how to list the choices on the response cards. I was thinking of listed as below:

Please check:

Walt Disney Reception Home Post-Wedding Celebration
____I will attended ___I will attend
____I will not attend ___I will not attend

Does anyone have any ideas? I would like to offer both options for my guests.

First, I had the blessing (though I never would have admitted that prior to the wedding) of having a buffet, so my response card didn't need choice of meal (which was SO nice not having to track people down). Second, there were very few people that meant so much to me that I wanted them at both receptions (I know that sounds awful, but it was hard enough to mingle with everyone who came to the second reception without having to stop and see people I had just seen a week before at the real thing:) ) that those that we wanted at both...we told them on the phone. Some just presumed and put down they were coming to both. My rsvp cards said:

M___________

___ will attend in Disney
___ will attend at home

Then, I sent separate invites to the people only invited at home. Another idea--although this would increase your postage costs, would be to send two invites to those that you want to come to the home reception AND disney?
