Every time there is discussion of MNSSHP or MVMCP, or even the day long disney event, most of the excitement seems to be over meeting extra or rare characters. This got me thinking that even apart from those charcters who are already allocated as event-special, such as Dwarves, Scrooge, Jack Skellington, etc, there are a load of underutilised characters that exist in Disney but never do meet or greets.

This may be because they are only seen in parades or maybe their popularity has waned so although the costumes exist in the warehouse they haven't been used for a while. So why not use them?

At Mickey's Storybook Circus, have a new meet and greet called "Guest Acts" Each day 2 different unconnected FUR characters meet. The list of which characters are meeting would be released months in advance (subject to change) and can only be used by characters who are not otherwise meeting.

It can even be a useul training tool for CM's to try on different characters.

How would you feel if this happened?

My understanding about the character meet and greets is that the cast members have to study and know the characters really well to act and react as that character would. To have the cast members devote that much research and time into a character that will only be used for a M&G once in a long while may be to much for too little return. Parade characters only have very limited moving interaction with the guest (waving/dancing), so not so much prep work is my only guess as to why they are in parades but not really anywhere else. Those are just my guesses as to why but I have no real knowledge of any of the reasoning. :confused3

Whilst I agree that would make sense for face characters who have to actually hold conversations, how much training does it take to wear Max and Thumper rather than Mickey and Rafiki?

I would love them to do this!

They did have the long lost friends last year so I would think it would be possible to do the same type of thing.

There are training areas for characters in EPCOT. At American Adventure, International Gateway and World Showplace between United Kingdom and Canada.

You can find regular, new and rare characters in these spots, but there is no guarantee of who and when. Luck of the draw.

While guests like me LOVE to see the characters and wish there was more of the 'long lost friends' events like they did before, I think Disney likes to keep some of the rare ones for special events like MNSSHP and the villains event and the 24 hour party, so there is more of a draw, (especially for the ones that hold an additional fee to attend.) It's something they hold in their pocket to get some of the people through the gate.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to me why they don't have a hugely popular character like Flynn Rider out for regular meets since SO many people want to see him, and yet, they choose not to but then have Prince Naveen do meets nightly with Tiana. I don't understand why they need so many options to see Pooh and Tigger and then have popular villains and such that people would love to see that never come out for any kind of meet and greet. I guess they have their reasons though. :confused3

and with all the popularity of Frozen you'd think they'd have a m&g with Olaf and Kristoff. How long ago was UP in theaters? Do we really need Russell & Dug doing a m&g?

Also Maleficent is hitting theaters May 30th. They need to have her out doing m&g's ASAP. You know that movie is going to be big.
