Guesses on DVC Availability in 2009 or 2010?

So DH and I were hoping to buy into DVC this year, but it is not going to happen. (We're going to go through a round or two of IVF... and possibly start the long road to adopting from China. Good thing we'd already booked and paid for our Disney trip for this year before we found out this was the only way to increase the size of our family!)

For obvious financial reasons, this won't be the year we buy DVC. Next year is iffy. It's really too bad, because DH finally agrees with me that DVC makes sense for us, but we both agree that we need to pay in cash and we're going to be seriously strapped in the short term.

Based on previous patterns of length of selling a particular property, does anyone have any educated guesses about what is likely to be readily available at the end of 2009 or sometime in 2010? Is AKV likely to be sold out? Do you think they'll be offering KT/CRV then? We might be interested in eventually doing small add ons at Ko'Olina or GCV, but wouldn't want to make either of those our primary.

Any thoughts?

DVC will aways be available for your purchase. There are rumors that part of Comptemporary resort will be converted to DVC. And DVC announced new resort at HI last year. Moreover, there will be many resales for you to choose from.

Only thing that you need to worry when you are ready to buy is which resort you want to call HOME....

Good luck...

The re-sale market may make more sense for you as you aren't forced to buy a minimum of 150 points as you would from Disney direct. There are always a lot of properties available there. That is if you don't want to buy at the new one or at SSR which may or may not sell out by then. We bought at BWV a few years ago because it was our favorite area.

I think the KTV will be on sale then....

But there are always resales, so pick the resort that fits you best.

We're going to go through a round or two of IVF...

Best wishes on your IVF! We went though it twice (one full and one frozen cycle) and were fortunate to get two successful, single pregnancies. I know this is a stressful time (oh, how I know it...), but I hope all works out well for you. And DVC will still be there when you and your kids are ready- I can't imagine that Disney will EVER give up this cash cow!

Thanks for the good wishes.

We're not looking forward to IVF (assuming we turn out to be good candidates for it); next week we should be doing the first round of bloodwork and other tests to get started. We have one son (age 3), but we are out of options if we're going to have any other children. At least Houston has one of the clinics with the highest success rates in the country, so that's something.

We'd hoped originally to buy from Disney and maybe add on smaller contracts down the road. We were really tempted by the double developer points last year on AKV, but DH wasn't ready to buy. And now that he's convinced... well, it just isn't the right use of our money right now.

I'm hoping they'll offer some sort of good deal, maybe even more double developer points again, on something I'm interested in late next year or early the following. That said, I'd eventually like to have some points at either BWV or BCV, AKV, and possibly CRV/KT whatever they're calling it. (If it were the GF or the Poly with DVC, it would be an easier decision!)
