The self inlflicted Heimlich Maneuver does indeed work. DH started choking at dinner this evening. He is barrel chested and I was unable to get my arms around him and do it with any strength. So, he slammed himself against the corner of the table and it came flying. Scared us both to death. Still scares me to think what might have happened. He is the love of my life and I would literally be lost without him.

yikes. remember you can always do the emergency tracheostomy with a bic pen.

My kids choking has always been my fear- Know how to do the Heimlich but how do you do the tracheotomy with the Bic pen?

Fast acting on your part! My Mom was choking on a peice of steak one time, and I had to do the same thing for her, only I pushed her against the kitchen sink, and OUT it Popped!
