Guess how much is in my change jar

close but not quite - $1013.53. And it goes into the Disney vacation fund of course.

The was another $200 IN $1'S in there also. Whenever I go on vacation I always get $50 in $1 from the bank for tips and then when I get home the leftover goes in the bank too. The bottle was full in December so I had an overflow jar until I counted it. I took all the bills out and filled the bottle to the brim from the overflow bank to get to the $1013. I have been rolling coins for a week and it was fun watching it climb every day. If I could have lifted the coke bottle I could have had my bank count it for free but it gave me something to do while I watched tv - lol.

Thanks for playing along.

Wow! Congrats.

I have a small jar I use to save silver coins and another for pennies. I also have a 5 gallon water bottle that I throw change into as well (that is my long-term coin savings). Can't wait until that jug gets filled. I'll have a REALLY nice trip with that money!

We had a similar bottle and mostly had pennies for the bottom part and then some other change for the last 2/3 and we had $900. That bank broke and we have never replaced it.

Wow!!!! Congrats!!!!! Isn't it an awesome rush??!!! We've been doing this for years and and one of my favorite things is to add money to the Disney jar at the end of the day. It's fun guessing how much is in it at any given time.

Time to start a new bottle!!!!

Glad I don't have to roll. Our credit union has a free coin counting machine. I just take what I have every few months and dump it in the counter.

I'm not sure of the dimensions of our coin savings jars - but we have 4 and each one held 40 oz of Snyder's pretzels in them (purchased at BJ's). We have been savings coins for 16 months now. When the one year mark hit, DH and DS12 divided all the coins (which were all in one jar), into the 4 jars, and counted the quarters only. As of last November, there was over $800 in quarters.

We have 5 months to go before our next WDW trip and I'm thinking we will have some decent spending money for our 4 nights, 5 days at the Wilderness Cabins!

I can't believe we haven't done this for years - it's so easy and so worth it.

Every chance I've been getting lately I take the coin jar money and exchange it for disney/universal gift cards at our grocery. We get fuel perks on the gift card purchase and then just toss the gift cards in the Disney jar. Not as fun, doesn't grow nearly as fast, but I like the extra savings on gas!

Yay, that's awesome! Ever since they came out with a report that the coin counting machines can be inaccurate and are not regulated by Weights & Measures, I roll all of my coins too! I don't mind doing it. ;)
