You could visit the park in the morning, and be sitting by your resort pool at 1:00 to get it.

Very weird.. Just noticed that the 1pm drop today is already complete after only a min or two (I only checked at 1:01, so it may have been earlier than that).

I could expect this on a Monday (with EMH), but not sure what would cause it to be available for over an hour one day, then full after 1 min the next..

Currently (2:25), they're up to Boarding Group 78 or so. Yesterday, they were up to Group 95 by this time. Other recent days, they were at group numbers over 100. I wonder if they had appreciable downtime this morning and issued fewer afternoon boarding groups as a result. That's just speculation, but I think it makes sense.

Good point - that would explain swings in availability from one day to the next.

Yes. While you can scan in and leave you have to have been in the park

Correct. You are not eligible for the 1pm VQ unless you have entered the park at some time previously that day.

If you have an EP reservation you can attempt to get the 7am VQ. Those are much harder to get though as availability is so short. Reports are that you can enter the queue anytime after your BG has been called, even if you are late, so definitely attempt the 7am VQ if possible.

There is always the ILL$ purchase available as well.

I will be flying and land at 8am, so if wifi is my friend (it was not last time). I’ll be trying at 7 for ILL or VQ, but we may not go to Epcot till after lunch and pool…. Worst case I did ride it during AP previews and will hopefully ride in august so if I miss it this time whatever right?!?

1) Try for VQ at 7am from the hotel room. Show up WAY late for the ride and hope they let us in.
2) Buy an ILL at 7am.
3) Get my behind out of bed, run to Epcot while others are sleeping, tap in. Go back to the resort, and then try for the VQ at 1pm -- Does everyone in the party need to tap in, or is it just the one making the reservation, because there's no way I'm convincing all these other people to get up early just to tap in at Epcot and leave.

What should we do? Any other ideas I haven't thought of?

Sorry, re #3, yes, to be eligible to get a VQ at 1 PM, everyone has to have tapped into Epcot by that time.

I'm planning to buy an ILL$ at 7 AM for late in the day and just be done with it! But then again, there are just two of us in our party, so not so expensive. And we'll be able to try at 6 PM as well.

Well, the opions you posted are all doable. You should try those in the order you list. They will let you on even if you show up late for BG. I often get BG 1 or 2 (not by choice) and show up after 7pm to ride.

#3 is not doable unless everyone in the group scans into the park.

We just got boarding group 4 (I have no clue how that happened), but we won’t be at the park until 12pm. Can anyone confirm that they are still allowing guests to tap in well after your designated BG has been called? Thanks!

FYI, you could have ridden with your boarding group any time during the day. The system says you only have an hour, but they have been honoring boarding groups anytime after they are called.

Sorry you weren't impressed. You can see from the comments that you are in the minority, for sure. I thought it was incredibly innovative, and a ton of fun! When I come off a ride saying, "How did they do that?!" I know it was a good one.

This was definitely a case to speak with the blue umbrella CM. They would have almost certainly understood and offered a solution to you to use your BG. For future reference.
