Trying to decide when to book a cruise. We have a cruise coming up in November and I was going to book a placeholder. Now I just saw a cruise that I'd look to book. I am considering a GTY (inside). If all of the insides are sold by November does that mean I cannot use the 10% discount for the inside GTY? (I assume so...just trying to figure out if I should gamble or not because the next category up is still a bit more even with the discount.)

If you go ahead and book the GTY now, then re-shop the cruise on your next cruise you can figure out whether the onboard booking will actually save you any money. Just not the onboard discounts are taken on the prevailing price, not the price you got when you made the original reservation. If the onboard booking comes out cheaper, go ahead and book it, and then cancel the other reservation.

I'm sure it won't have increased so much to not make it worth my while. I guess I was wondering if they still offer inside GTY if there are no inside rooms available.

Depends, are you talking about an actual "GTY"? That is GTY with specific category listed after it (GTY 10A, for example).

Or a "IGT"? A last minute restricted fare?

If the former, it's possible they would still offer it. Since GTY is offered once a certain percentage of rooms within a specific category are booked. They will offer GTY for that category, not necessarily for the actual number of that category rooms, because they can always move/upgrade people if more reservations come in than there actually that number of rooms.

If the latter, onboard booking perks are not applicable to those types of guarantee bookings.

Yes, it's the former...GTY with specific category listed. Decisions, decisions! :-)
