Grumpy and his wife and possibly the DIS Food Porn Queen are going to Disney

I hope all goes well with the surgery, don't worry about us you just focus on Mark :) Sending lots of pixiedust: your way :goodvibes

Well, Mark met with the doctor and we now have the details of his surgery--when we have to be there, the preparation required, the time of the surgery, how long it will take, how long in recovery, etc. Of course, they also gave us a list of ALL the risks of spine surgery so I will be an absolute WRECK until the surgery is over and I see him and know that everything went well. The surgery is Wednesday (the 14th) at 12:30. I will update as soon as I can, or I will be calling Nicki and I will have her post for me in case I spend the night at the hospital with Mark.

Ugggg, that list of things that can go wrong is the worst part of the surgery! When I had my back surgery the nurse read me that long awful list and had me sign the waiver right before I went in for surgery - it makes you want to turn and run doesn't it?! Everything turned out perfectly for me though and I have been pain free for years, I'm sure it will be successful for Mark as well :goodvibes

Kathy, I've been wondering about this - thank you for letting us know. May I ask how long the surgery is expected to take? I' like to ask my dear friends, who are cloistered nuns, to have Mass said for Mark that day and they will keep in prayer during his surgery and recovery.

Of course you know all of us will be praying and sending positive thoughts and blessings to Mark, you and the medical team caring for him. :goodvibes

Kathy, I will be keeping you all in my prayers. I know that any type of surgery is scary but to read all about the risks makes it even scarier.

They tell us the surgery will take 1-1/2 to 2 hours. Thank you, Christine. You are a sweetie.

Lisa, I just about "lost my lunch" when I read the list of WHAT could go wrong. Scary, scary, scary.

I've talked to Nicki...and I will be on the phone with her form the hospital and she will then post for me here. Now, if Wednesday would just get here so we can get on with this and get it over with.

 Will be thinking of you both and sending you lots of good throughts from Connecticut. Praying for a smooth surgery and quick recovery.

Prayers for that big kid at heart!! Please give us regular updates!

Kathy, that list they read is always very scary and intimidating! Just hang in there and know that all your buddies on the dis will be praying for you and Mark. I have it down and will be praying extra hard at 11:30 my time that day.

That is good news on the Andy and NIcole front, keeping my fingers crossed!:wizard:

Will be praying for a sucsessful surgery and smooth recovery. Please keep us updated.

Kathy, I will be praying for you both as well. I know exactly what you're going through. When Joe's doctor read off the list of risks to me, I nearly fell off the chair with worry. But think of it this way, the odds are in his favor. That's all I kept thinking while the doctor was operating on Joe's back a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks, Tina. :)

Sending prayers for a successful surgery and quick recovery.

I appreciate it, Glenn.

I think he should wear his Eeyore ears in the hospital. ;)

Thank you, Mary. Hopefully, he'll be feeling great and can play with the girls in the pool.

I know they have to give you that list, Sophia, but I think I'd rather they didn't. Either that or medicate me before they read it to me. I will take your advice.

Well, this is the last weekend of our trip.

I am not normally a big breakfast person, but I LOVE to eat out on vacation for breakfast. Last year we went to Breakfast Plus on Marco Island; I think this year, we will try Nene's. This place was ALWAYS hopping when we drove by so I'm assuming it is pretty darn good.

From there, it will more than likely be pool time again. I think late afternoon or early evening we may drive to Naples to go miniature golfing (unfortunately there are no courses on Marco Island).

This might be one of the nights we go to dinner with Nicki and Todd in Naples. We're still looking over restaurants, but they have a lot of good seafood places (my favorite), they have a favorite Italian place and a pizza place (only problem is pizza and I do NOT get along these days).

Good luck with the surgery!

Thank you.

Mark is working all weekend at a trade show which is probably a good thing. I'm sick -- sore throat, coughing, running nose. The last thing we need is to get him sick before his surgery. He's been sleeping in our youngest son's room (Markie sleeps on the couch in the family room). I'm going now to watch Andy coach and hoping I can sweat some of this out of me.

All caught up now!

You have a VERY sweet son for giving you an early payment toward the student loans!!! I was happy to read you don't have to cancel the Disney portion AND you get to do MNSSHP. :thumbsup2

I think Marco is a wonderful 2nd half of a vacation - just laying on the beach, or pool, after running around Disney for 4 days. We might have to look into something like that for a future trip so my DH gets his down time and beach in that he always wants!

Hope all goes well with Mark's surgery and he has a speedy recovery! And I hope you feel better soon too! :goodvibes Being sick in the summer is the worst!

Brooke, I'm so glad you are here. We loved our time at Marco last year and it was a non brainer for this year knowing that we can spend time with Nicki and Todd.

Thanks, Jen. I still fele like "yuck", but I just want to be sure Mark doesn't catch it before his surgery. I sat through two of the games Andy coached and it was 92 degrees; then I went to Markie's softball game and the RAINS came and I got drenched. I'm going to take some more medicine in a few minutes and hit the sack early.
