We checked our booking on-line this morning as you do to make sure everything was correct, when lo-and-behold THEY have changed our hotel :scared1:" Oh no" said DH "You'd better look at this" shakes head, so I did and rang them. They said that we had made the change on-line "No all we did was 'phone up last month to make a final payment and request an invoice (yes I know ) that was all-- no changes on-line from us!!" Huh we'll have to look at it they said and put me on hold , then asked when our latest invoice was dated so I told him quoting that our invoice stated All Star Movies NOT Music. Has this happened to anyone else who has booked with Virgin?
It's causing us alot of worry since we only have 10 and a half weeks to go, and we have had nothing in the way of a letter or invoice from them despite repeated requests. We are aware of the refurbs going on at Music and Sports when we are there which was why we picked Movies in the first place:scared1:

Fingers crossed it all gets sorted soon, have Virgin charged you for the amendment they claim 'you made online'?

:)

Ahh good point:thumbsup2 Actually no they have not charged us an amendment fee for the "alleged" on-line change:confused3 Hopefully they will have made a note on our account about the problem and when I ring them back on Tuesday they had better be able to sort this out.
We would not mind so much if they had at least written or called about the hotel if they had info from Disney which could clash with our hotel booking eg all rooms are booked and some are mid-renovation. We feel that after having this holiday booked for almost a year then someone should have had the decency to contact us before now.
I think we'll need a bit of pixie dust over the weekend and pray that we get this sorted out soon DS was really looking forward to ASMovies for our holiday.

In that case I dont see how they can claim you made the amendment as any you did do would automatically be charged

Good luck on Tuesday :thumbsup2

if you had to go to the music just ask at frount desk to change you to movies. The all stars are clased as one resort in disney inventory so there would be no problem moveing to any.We have moved from movies to pop like this with no problem.Jut incase you dont get any help from virgin

We have had a real nightmare with them .We have had 5 invoices and not one of them is right!!Im sick of them.I spent another 45 mins on the phone to them and had to spell everything out!!!We arE staying at POR but the last reciept showed staying at all stars, requests for high floor magnolia terrace and charged for POR!!!so on monday they will have another call and a complaint this time.I do not know what is wrong with that company just latley. It is very worrying when they do things like this:dance3:

Virgin seem to be so inconsistent just lately....i can remember back to the first year we went with them and everything just went smoothly, only received 1 invoice (instead of the 4 that i have at the moment) even got a phone call before and after holiday to make sure everything was ok!!

I have added eldest DD to our booking, although they said that they couldn't do this and she has a different booking reference...she has NO accomodation against her booking!! They have assured me that she is booked into CSR and HRH with us...but where on paper does it say that!

Good luck trying to sort your problem out:thumbsup2

Umm.... I think that Virgin are going to have lots of very annoyed people ringing them about messed up bookings. It's just not good enough that you are having problems like that:eek: at least the hotel muck up on ours is at the same value hotel:eek:
I know for sure that if we have no joy sorting this out we will not be using them again. This whole trip was booked to celebrate Dh's birthday this year and it will be a while before we can save up to go back again:love:Keeping my fingers crossed that everyone gets the hotel bookings that they requested and that Virgin own up to their mistakes.
BTW there will not be any staff on Monday at the Virgin Holidays bookings office, so don't ring until Tuesday.:surfweb:

After explaining our problem with a very helpful call centre worker we have, hopefully, finally got the hotel reservation we booked. RESULT:thumbsup2 Still no explanation as to how or why the hotel was changed which is odd. Was told to expect a new invoice, it's to be sent to us soon ...we'll see since the last one never materialised. Thank goodness we don't have to change our "APIs". I've double checked our seat selections and the meal requests for DS too. :surfweb:

Hi There,
Glad to hear that everything seems to be getting sorted out for you :thumbsup2 I understand how annoying it is when things get changed at the last minute!
Good Luck! And happy planning!
Audrey :)

Glad to see everything was sorted for you. We had a slight problem with our xmas holiday. Basically there are two Fairfield Inns,we thought we had booked the one at LBV but they had put us on IDrive (did not know about this one). After a couple of phone calls the frequent virgin club changed it free of charge.

Thanks girls, I'm such a worry wart when it comes to planning our holidays.I just hope we have no more problems like this:thumbsup2
We had a similar problem back in 2000 when we booked with Aiirtours for DS's first birthday. Thet told us we had Movies when we got ther they told us we were booked into Music and during our whole stay DH and DS had food poisoning (ruined the entire holiday) so we were very reluctant to stay at Music ever again.
Just going to keep my fingers crossed for a decent non-smoking standard room at Movies, we loved this hotel and had a fantastic stay in'04 (when we went with Direct Travel), so wish me luck:grouphug:

hiya,

we went to all star music at christmas. we were originally booked into the movies but virgin changed the booking to music before we went. we rang them to query this and were told that movies were having renovation work done and therefore had no pool. we were happy with the decision to move hotel and had a great stay at music.

we mentioned it to the cast memner on the front desk at all star music and she said that virgin had moved all their guests from the movies due to the buildin work, it was possible to stay at movies if you really wanted to but virgin were trying to make their guests stays as stress free as possible.

hth

 Please can you tell me what type of building work was going on back then?
:goodvibes I remember reading that the Fantasia pool had a major leaking problem and when they went to rectify it it took way longer than anticipated.
:confused3 We recieved notification from Virgin a couple of days ago about the Music hotel having renovations April-10th May at the Calypso and Kids pool.
Movies is having the Duck Pond pool renovated 14th -31st May.
Sports has renovations to the Lodge building water heaters will be replaced going on until April- 22nd June some guests may experience limited hot water availability, then August-13 September Surfboard Bay pool and kids pool will be refurbished.

We arrive 21st June so most of the work at Movies and Music should be finished. We don't want to use the Duck Pond pool (it's the quiet pool) and Virgin say that the hotel staff will try to accomodate all guests away from the renovation work. We don't mind paying a bit more every night for a "preferred room" in fact if we had known such an option existed when we booked we would have definitely added it to our booking. As long as we get a high floor non-smoking room (less foot traffic) we'll be quite happy.:surfweb:
Our invoice details have updated on-line and they now have our accommodation listed as All Star Movies again phew!!Gonna keep checking it frequently from now on.
