I don't get why it's OK to pay to skip lines but not for people to be creative and jump ahead of you without paying.
That's okay.

Good to know, I am booked BC and I believe thats the closest stop. I will be on the lookout for people trying to be sneaky!
And yet nobody here cars about VIP groups being allowed to bypass the lines.

Where is that exactly written as a policy? I have never heard a cm tell someone to just push through crowed lines to meet your party. I have heard them refer people to guest services for assistance. If someone has trouble standing the general response is use a wheelchair. For heat the lines are usually air conditions or under cover (with some exceptions) so they are better than walking around in the openActually, Disney tells people to do this. If someone in your party has trouble with the heat or standing for long periods of time, rather than provide accommodations through the disability access system, their first suggestion (and in many cases only option) is to have part of your party wait in line and the others join them once they get close to the front. So, like it or not, line jumping to join your party is not only allowed but encouraged at Disney.
You said at POC there is" generally extra space on the sides of the line." The CMs are continually saying "fill ALL available space"....which means if you don't fill the space somebody else will/can.In certain circumstances yes. At Pirates of the Caribbean, the queue is so wide that there is generally extra space on the sides of the line. People tend to respect the line and leave the space open. But some people walk right by the line in this extra space. CM's don't care becuase they want the line to compact.
My guess is that they don't want to bother or care. "upset" guests are probably not the main issue. Confrontation is unpleasant, so why not skip it?

Actually, Disney tells people to do this. Yeah, I made two particular groups REALLY mad with me week before last in the line for jungle cruise. One was a family of 5 directly in front of me, where only the mother entered the line...and 10 minutes later the rest of the family comes pushing through others in line. I told them I don't know how the folks behind me felt about it, but the other 4 weren't getting in line in front of me. Apparently, the rest of the folks behind me were ok with it, since the mother simply moved behind me and the rest of the family joined her.
Not 5 minutes later, there was a cheer/youth groups (teenage girls with all the same shirts) that attempted the same thing. There were TWO of them in line several spots ahead of us. Next thing I know, there are about 10 more of them pushing their way through the line, saying they needed to catch up with their "group". It just so happened that the two that thought they were saving a spot to the others had wrapped around the queue, and were standing right beside me in the next row over. When the 10 others got to me, I simply told all of them that they were welcome to get in line together, but it would be at the back of the line...not in front of me. They were pissed, but I stood my ground and they all ended up leaving. I got lots of support from others around me on that one.
I just don't understand the way people think on things like this.

I have NEVER heard this. I've heard them suggest wheelchairs/ECVs for stamina issues, but NOT joining people at the end of the line.
Whether you want to admit it or not, you are pushing through crowded lines. No one said it was "written." The fact that you have not heard someone say this does not mean it is not true. Have you heard someone say. "The first emperor of Japan was Emperor Jimmu"? Probably not. But it is true! You don't personally hear experience all things.
But thank you for editorializing and turning it into "pushing through crowded lines to get to your party." It would be so disappointing if the ridiculous hyperbole and exaggeration was omitted from a post.
Is someone in your party disabled? Because otherwise, how would you have heard this?
We have absolutely been told this by CMs at character lines. Sometimes when my middle son is struggling, my husband or I wait in the line and we bring the kids up when it is our turn. (We always run over and push some people and try to knock them down, when we come over.) The one time - one time - a CM ever told us "No," her supervisor came right over and corrected her.
Thank you. Everyone around you appreciates it.I do the same thing. How is it fair to those that have been waiting in line and then someone cuts in front because they didn't want to wait. I understand if a parent is line with their small child and they need to leave to use the bathroom however if they weren't in line to begin with they are not getting through. My DH hates it when I do it but I don't care.
Just because one CM says it, that doesn't make it a policy. Just because someone says it, doesn't make it true.No one said it was "written." several people in my party over the years have been disabled. When inquiring about options for those that had issues standing, the only options presented were rent a wheelchair or ecv. You are seriously saying cm tell people to push through lines like TSMM where people wait for hours to try and find their party? Their written policy for people who have physical issues and can't wait online is to use a wheelchair or other mobility device. Knowing the lines like I do, there is no easy way to just bring your kid to the front. And if you son struggles with lines you should request a DAS. That is the program disney has in place. No one said it was "written." The fact that you have not heard someone say this does not mean it is not true. Have you heard someone say. I think the bolded is key. Most character lines are not in buildings ie anna and elsa, but the free forming lines where people can easily come in and out think around world show case.No one said it was "written."
