Groundhog Day at Walt Disney World - New 5/2 - pg. 20 - 3 Updates/new PTR link

Continued from previous post...

We planned to meet in Canada at 11:30. Zach & I had a lot of fun on this mission & look forward to doing another next time. (Skip through the next group of photos if you don’t want to see what we did on our UK mission):

Near the end of our mission, Tim started texting looking for us. We were almost done but had to rush a bit. We finished a couple minutes before 11:30 and rushed toward Canada. We bumped into Heidi & the kids on the way there. Her DH was off doing something in Canada I think? After a quick hello we met up with Tim & Alex in Canada. We checked in and waited. They did a quick opening show here too. All the CMs gathered & sang O’Canada. It was nice to see our second restaurant opening show in the World Showcase. Right after the song, everyone who was there was seated, except us. We waited and waited… Finally TWENTY minutes after our ADR (which in my opinion is RIDICULOUS at opening) we were seated. Luckily the meal made up for the long wait. Everyone enjoyed their meal. DH & I each had the filet. He tried the risotto and I had the potatoes. I think Zach had a hot dog, which is odd because he likes steak. Maybe he got steak?? Alex definitely got a piece of grilled chicken from the kids menu & loved it. When he was done, he asked if he could have more! For dessert, Tim & I shared a chocolate moose.

The boys wanted their usuals – Kaki Gori for Zach & Itzakadoozie for Alex. We left Canada & Tim took Zach to Japan for Kaki Gori. I took Alex through Future World to find a popsicle. We had to squeeze through the very crowded walkway. It was so crowded because this was going on:

This is when I did something AWFUL! I ran the stroller into the back of a lady’s legs! I felt SOOO bad! I could tell it really hurt too. Sorry to everyone who uses strollers at Disney, I've contributed to why we get a bad reputation! I was the lady with the ten year old kid running into people's ankles! Very embarrassed, we continued on to find Alex’s popsicle and meet up with Tim & Zach in Norway. Along the way I stopped at a F&G kiosk and bought a F&G Festival pin. I’ll share a photo when I post Zach’s pin collection.

In Norway, we rode Maelstrom & stopped for a picture with our favorite troll:

Then we decided it was time to leave. It was almost 2:00 and we wanted to rest before our late night out. We did a lot of walking after lunch just to ride one ride & leave! But I guess it helped us burn off some of the lunch.

girl I am tired just reading this post...that was alot of running around but seems like you managed alot and the boys had fun... so how do you know which row you will be in on Soarin anyways

It really wasn't as much running around as it seems... just the hunt for tasty cold desserts.

No pictures in front of the Toy Story guys - definitely too crowded. Not that I didn't think about it though...

I was really interested in reading about Le Cellier. Good timing because I'm hoping to get make an online ADR tomorrow for our October trip. I'm glad to read good things! Great update Amy. It looks like it was really nice out! Such pretty scenery too.

What a fun Epcot morning/afternoon. Thats a nice system you have with switching off with the kids, bet that helps some things move along and keeps everyone happy. Hope my DH will do that a few times on our next trip.

I'm so jealous that you got to see them creating the African Cats sand sculpture, we really loved each time we walked past it.

Sounds like a great lunch, and dessert. Joey really likes that Itza popcicle too. He wanted one everytime we passed a kiosk.

Can't wait to read about your MK evening.

What was UP with that 20-minute wait for the first seating for lunch? Glad the yummy food made up for it! MMM... I can just taste that filet with mushroom risotto....

Love all the F&G topiaries. Lunch at LeC sounds yummy, we're doing dinner there in June for Mairead's graduation - can't wait! Daniel is a big fan of the Itzka popsicles too.

We saw the "famous line" on the various rides at DHS too. They butted in front of us on TSM! I figured they were famous, but I had noooooo idea who they were.

Very cool that you got to see the sand pile being formed! We saw it as a heap of sand and then completed. Beautiful, isn't it?

The only Kim Possible Mission Brooklynn has done was in UK, as well. She enjoyed it, but I didn't see much because I was getting Bella to sleep. I have seen others doing the butterfly part over there.

Glad the LeCellier meal was good. I wasn't really hungry the one time I have been there, but I remember how good the potatoes were. I just didn't eat much of that huge portion I got. I think the timing wasn't right, and I had eaten something else way too close to that meal. I plan to go back, and I am going to make sure I am good and hungry so I can appreciate it more.

It is hard to get those topiaries with no one else in the pictures.

Switching off works really well for us. Zach loves to slow down & smell the roses. Alex just wants to ride the same favorites over & over again. And Tim & I each get some one-on-one time with each of the boys. I'd definitely recommend it!

I felt so bad about the stroller accident!

Twenty minutes at opening was way too long to wait at Le Cellier. We make ADRs at opening time to avoid long waits! Luckily everyone enjoyed the food.

I didn't have any idea who the "famous" people were either - luckily Tim knew who some of them were.

I wish I could have stood around and watched them build the sand sculpture but Alex was antsy & we had to meet Tim & Zach later.

When I was at Disney with my mom in 2008 we only had one day at Epcot so we squeezed in two TS meals. I think Le Cellier was for lunch and dinner was at Teppan Edo - I thought we would have to roll ourselves back to Pop Century!

The topiaries at the entrance were mobbed - I didn't even try to convince everyone to stop for PP pictures.

I love the KP missions. They are great.

Back at Vistana we went for a swim. I took all of our basketballs & our pool ball over to the little pool store & they deflated them for me. I wasn’t sure we’d be able to fit them in the luggage but figured deflating them was a good start. Back at the pool, Tim was swimming with the boys. Alex was getting fresh & I made him get out of the pool and take a time out. A few minutes later I let him swim again. A lady walked by and told me how nice it was to see a family taking responsibility for their kids behavior. So many people let their kids run wild on vacation and she appreciated us holding our kids accountable. It was really nice to hear that because I felt like Alex had been pretty out of control the whole week & I was so tired of correcting & disciplining him. I told her about our boys & that they have autism so we are constantly trying to teach them how to behave appropriately. She really took an interest & we continued to talk for a few minutes about autism & how every kid who is on the spectrum is so different.

After our chat I took our the camera & had a swimming photo session:

After our swim we went back to the villa. I spent some time packing since we’d be out late & would want to get up and out fairly early the next day.

How kind of that woman to take the time and compliment you on your parenting! Too often we assume others are judging us and its nice to be proven wrong from time to time!

That pool looks so inviting!

I don't like to pack at the last minute, either. Too stressful!

I have missed so much in your report! Things have been crazy here so I haven't had much time to spend here.

Bummer about Mama Melrose. We have an ADR there in October. It's one we have never been to. Now I'm wondering if we should cancel. The reviews are split 50/50 so I just don't know.

Pool time is one of the best parts of a vacation.

You are a good mom not to give up and give in. Your boys will be so much better off for it.

When we were leaving the movie theater yesterday, a lady complimented the girls on their good behavior. She said that when they sat down, she told her friend that they had probably made a mistake sitting behind us with two little kids, but it turned out that they were good as gold. Bella fell asleep in my lap, and Brooklynn watched the movie without incident until about ten minutes before it was over, when she had to go to the bathroom. She and I slipped quietly out. It was very nice for the lady to take the time and effort to say such a nice thing.

UGH...a stroller faux-pas! Oh well...I'm sure you were more apologetic than most! Accidents happen.

I like to get all packed early as well....I hate the rush and stress of packing as we are flying out the door. I always feel like I'm forgetting something that way.

Pool time is always nice! I want to make sure to take enough time on our October trip to take a dip a few times. I hear you on the behavior Amy. Autism is so different for each kid, isn't it? We had lots of behaviors this weekend from Michael, including ripping his wallpaper off of his wall. I was sort of ready to send him back to daycare this morning.
