Groundhog Day at Walt Disney World - New 5/2 - pg. 20 - 3 Updates/new PTR link

Yay you rode Mission Space!! We have always done the green side but I never realized when the spinning was until I read it somewhere. Now that I know I get a little dizzy & have not been on it the last few trips.

That's great that you got a good spot for Illuminations & it was that close to 9:00. We usually grab a spot by 8:00 the latest.

Nice art work, guys!

No Mission:Space for me. I know I'd love the actual ride, but I wouldn't be able to take the closed in seating. The boys look fairly excited about the ride, though.

P.S. I have ridden that spinning carnival ride you were talking about - many, many years ago. Very cool. :thumbsup2

I'm so jealous of people who can ride the orange team on MS. I like the green side but get motion sickness on rides that spin and on some simulators. Last year I went to Epcot armed with Dramamine and gave the orange side a try and came off feeling kind of yucky so I can't imagine how bad it would have been with out the motion sickness meds! I am glad I tried though. It's really not too different from the green team.

I love the flag topiaries...so cool! I haven't seen those before and have been to F&G Festival twice. They are a nice touch!

Good for you for riding Mission Space. I sit that one out for motion sickness reasons. I'd love to try it, but I'm afraid I'll get sick and ruin the day. Maybe someday I'll give it a shot. Glad you liked it! :thumbsup2

What a great daddy for taking one for the team...way to go Tim! :cheer2:

Loving the crazy stroller pics!

Great updates Amy! LOVED Zach's Super Chef book, what a cute idea, I may have to steal that one! Alex made a great looking Abe Lincoln too! :goodvibes You sure got a lot of big attractions done before Illuminations! Would you try the steps in Canada as a viewing spot again or try someplace else? We have been hit or miss with spots, I hate standing for a great space for so long before it starts. Can't wait to see where you all went next!!

wow Amy I am super impressed about Mission Space orange...that is one thing you won't see me on I love me some thrills...but just not sure about that...I so remember the amusement park spin ride where the floor drops :rotfl:

Glad you got so much done and still snagged a decent spot for Illuminations :thumbsup2 not sure I'm that much of a risk taker on squeexing in to find a good spot ;)

looking forward to see what is next!

Very silly stroller pictures!

You had a busy night riding SSE, Mission:Space, and Soarin'. Hope Zach gets that front-row seat later in the trip!

My three love Mission:Space but I will not ride it for a variety of reasons. I am happy to hear you enjoyed it and obviously don't have any undiagnosed heart conditions! :thumbsup2

Loving the new things you tried, you know minus MS, :lmao: The game you guys played looks like fun, we need to make time to do that kind of stuff next time.

Your PP and silly stroller pictures are GREAT!!!:)

Looks like a great end to your day, can't wait to see how your groundhog day continues...

Our family loves this game!!

I love how the boys get silly for pictures... you can almost hear them yelling CHEESE!

Great update Amy! On our last family trip, the kiddos and I rode Mission Space. I was also hesitant like you but they loved it! I was surprised. :)

Being able to walk back to your resort is such a nice perk!

Mission Space was pretty cool! :thumbsup2

Walking between a resort & a park is fantastic!!

I was surprised Tim wasn't a little dizzy (or worse) after Mission Space!

I was very happy with our Illuminations spot, especially considering the time.

I'm not in a hurry to ride Mission Space again! But I'm sure the boys will be dragging me there! :sad2:

Tim can't handle simulator rides like Star Tours but he did fine on Mission Space?? :confused3

That was the first time I saw those flag topiaries too.

I don't blame you for not trying Mission Space - it wouldn't be any fun to ruin a whole Disney day with motion sickness. I was surprised Tim rode it with us.

Zach had fun with the restaurant reviews - I wish we had done more of them. He was into it, we just kept forgetting to bring the book into the parks with us.

I think we'd catch Illuminations from that spot again - the lack of crowds made up for the not-so-perfect view. Plus we didn't have to wait at all. :thumbsup2

You should try Mission Space at least once. Have you done the green version? If nobody is clostrophobic you should try it - the kids would like it. Each person has an assigned role & they get to push the buttons. Alex was so afraid to look away from the screen that he didn't push his buttons though... The computer will "override" the designated person if they don't push their buttons - it doesn't let you crash! :rotfl:

It was a busy night, but a low key relaxed kind of night at the same time. We didn't really have a touring plan.

I was happy that I didn't find out about a heart condition too. ;)

There are a lot of neat things to do inside SSE & Innoventions. More on that to come!

Kathy

I'm glad we spent more time enjoying some of the little games at Epcot!

The boys love silly pictures - the only way we get them to pose for nice pictures is with the promise of a silly picture after.

Friday 3/4:

Today we had planned to go to Animal Kingdom in the morning but since we’d switched things around and been there yesterday, today was our free morning and it worked out well since Alex slept until after 7:00 – super late for him!! We all had a slow start, I did some laundry & some dishes – I guess that’s a plus & minus of staying in a villa. You are able to do dishes & laundry, but you have to do dishes & laundry!

We had never taken the kids to DTD & were a bit disappointed that the Lego store was a temporary set up but we decided to head over there for a little while. We told the kids they could each get something that we would pay for. That made them more willing to come along. We visited Once Upon a Toy, the Lego “store”, Team Mickey, World of Disney & the pin trading store.

We didn’t buy anything in Once Upon a Toy even though Alex was tempted by a Disney Cranium game. I convinced him to wait and if he still wanted it later, we would go back for it. Zach ended up with a few things from the Lego store, which is funny because you can get Lego stuff anywhere, but it made him happy… and he used his own money there. Actually he got a few things that I’m not sure we could find elsewhere. He got to build his own “guys” and came out with a three pack of them, plus a Lego mug that he drinks hot chocolate out of every morning. He also got a Ninjago set & a ninja key chain. At Team Mickey I wanted to get each of them a shirt but only found one for Alex. We also bought them each a bobble head Mickey. Zach’s is karate & Alex’s is basketball.

Tim also got a couple shirts. Here is Alex’s shirt & one of Tim’s:

Before heading into World of Disney we stopped for a few pictures:

In WoD we got some new placemats:

Two beach towels for our mothers:

A magnet, a frame for DMIL:

Two colanders & two packages of Mickey pasta (one for me & one for my mother):

Alex got a package of little green men and a set of little Peter Pan action figures.

Zach got a Mickey basketball hoop and a little “Whack-a-Mole” type game but with little green men instead of moles.

I also purchased the rolling duffle for $15 with our $25 (or much more) purchase.

It definitely came in handy on the trip home! After Alex got his things he was ready to go so Tim took him to the car while I took Zach back to Pin Traders. We had stopped in earlier and asked about the pin trading board. I’d heard about it but didn’t really know much about it… they told me that it’s totally random when it comes out but it’s not out all the time. When we didn’t see it out earlier we moved on but now was our last chance so we headed back. It still wasn’t out but Zach bought a medallion thing for the bottom of his lanyard and two packages of $1 mystery pins. I’ll have to show you pictures of all his pins later. I don’t remember exactlywhat he got…

On our back to the car we stopped for Zach to get a gelato. He got a blue one, whatever flavor that was, and enjoyed it. I’m disgusted to say that we swung through McDonalds again on the way back to the villa. Just thinking about another greasy meal grosses me out! I’m not sure if I ate there or not this time? On the short drive back to Vistana, Tim said something like, “Why don’t you go ahead and book a short trip down here in November – four days or something.” (Of course it’s turned into five night and maybe more if we visit Jeff…)

I don’t think we swam this day but we took a little time back at the villa to get organized for our afternoon at DHS. Tim tried on his shirts and one didn’t fit so we headed to DHS the long way and stopped at DTD. Tim stayed in the car with the kids & I ran in to Team Mickey to see if they had a larger shirt. They didn’t so I saw a couple beer glasses (that he drinks Pepsi out of) and got those in exchange for the shirt.

Tim was a little snarky about it when I got back in the car, “why’d you get those?” but he drinks out of them all the time now. Doesn’t he know women know best??

Good morning Amy. Love all your purchases.

The bobble heads are so cute.

I love the frame & colanders. I think I may be buying a colander next month. I have a tupperware one that I have had for YEARS & I love it but sometimes when I go to use it it is dirty in the dishwasher so I think that is a good excuse to buy a mickey one.;)

The placemats are adorable. I like the glasses you got Tim much better than that tshirt with that NY team on it.

You got a ton of cute things! :) Isn't it so hard to choose? World of Disney is huge! The Lego store was my son's favorite part of DTD, even though we can get Legos anywhere. Ha!!

Hi Doreen! A little chilly today but enjoying another nice spring day!

I have a really old mustard yellow collander from tupperware too - I just can't get rid of it!

I love our new placemats but we only use them to eat. The kids normally use placemats for homework & other drawing/writing but these new ones are textured so they don't work out very well for writing.

You got a ton of cute things! :) Isn't it so hard to choose? World of Disney is huge! The Lego store was my son's favorite part of DTD, even though we can get Legos anywhere. Ha!!

Shopping was really fun - especially because we hadn't planned on it at all! I love World of Disney - it might be my favorite store in the world!

Wow what a great shopping trip. We didn't do much shopping on our trip, but Joey debated that same bucket of green aliens, but then opted for some army men instead. I love the peter pan set and the colander. so cute and fun:thumbsup2

can't wait to see how you DHS afternoon/evening goes

Hi Amy!:goodvibes

Sorry I've fallen so far behind. But, I'm all caught up now and I must tell you how much I love your pictures!! I've been really missing Disney lately and they made my day!:thumbsup2

I'm glad to hear your boys enjoyed Sci Fi! We've been really wanting to try it! Hopefully, next time.

Yay for another day at AK! Too funny about the stinky rhino butt picture!

Good for you for riding Mission Space.:thumbsup2 I still haven't gotten brave enough to try yet!

Love those Mickey colanders!! What a successful shopping trip!:)

So many good purchases! :cool1: Nice of you to buy the moms some gifts.

I have one of the red metal colanders. I use it all the time. Towels are great gifts. Lightweight for travel and practical for using. :thumbsup2

ok I am semi convienced to try it...I don't suffer from clostrophobia or motion sickness but still I am not fond of the motion rides in comparison to the a regular coaster of course Matt is the exact opposite  and if he conviences me to ride MS-orange (if his neck can handle it) I have nothing to make him go on :headache: I guess we'll just have to wait and see....

loved all your shopping...nathan saw the bobble heads and liked those :thumbsup2 I really like the gifts you bought for the mom's (I have the frame) and the place mats are great I should look for some like that...I love Disney shopping ;)

Alex was looking for "guys" he could put on teams to play basketball. So we got the little green men, divided them up into three teams & used a sharpie to color red & green shirts on two of the teams! :rotfl:

Hi Angie!! You should definitely try Sci Fi - it's a pretty cool restaurant.

I'm glad Zach got to go off & explore (and find the rhino butt) at AK. He & Tim enjoyed that time.

So many good purchases! :cool1: Nice of you to buy the moms some gifts.

I wish I had gotten another pair of towels for us! Sometimes it's hard to give away the souvenirs! :rolleyes1

You should definitely give green a try just to see what it's all about. They had a whole bunch of different Mickey bobble heads for different sports. I was excited that they had karate.

Love all the shopping pics! Connor bought those same LGM a couple of years ago and is still playing with them. They are very versatile!
