Groundhog Day at Walt Disney World - New 5/2 - pg. 20 - 3 Updates/new PTR link

Moving right along, I want to post my condo update today since Heidi (MRYPPNS) posted hers & we stayed at the same place! I thought it would be fun for those of you who are reading both of our TRs to see another example of a villa at Vistana.

It was time to find our home away from home for the week so we took the short drive over to Sheraton Vistana and checked in. I had received a phone call from a guy named Jay a couple days before leaving. He said he was our concierge for the week & offered us VIP check-in so we could skip the main check-in building, go right to one of the recreation centers and pick up our keys. I’m not sure how we got this service – it didn’t happen last year. But it made it sooo super easy. Last year’s check in through Diamond Lane (pre-register online) was quick but this was even quicker. I gave the woman our name and she found our folder and handed it to us along with a little gift bag with a mug, samples of toothpaste & rasors, etc. and some coupons for local restaurants. I used the mug during our stay but that was about all. We were in building 23 in the Fountains Section. All of our requests had been met, we were in a refurbished unit on the top floor (which meant vaulted ceilings), near the pool (could have been closer, but definitely a quick walk) and away from highway noise. We also ended up with a corner unit which is always nice. The unit itself was great but the location (within the resort) was just OK. It was just inside the security gate but the traffic wasn’t an issue at all – we never heard anything.

We found our condo, dragged all of our stuff up the two flights of stairs (the only disadvantage to top floor – but I felt more comfortable with the kids sleeping in a separate bedroom being up off the ground). Tim then offered to take the kids to swim for a bit. We had a 5:45 ADR at Chef Mickey’s and it was only around 2:00 so we had time to kill. I stayed back and unpacked and started a load of laundry. Luckily I remembered to take pictures before the place got too trashed:

Up next: Our first rope drop of the trip.

Other then the bedspreads your decor was on par with mine. We had a corner unit as well but no patio :sad1:. I'll probably upgrade to a 2 bedroom next time. We were next to the "highway" but it wasn't a problem at all.

This definitely looks like a very comfortable place to stay. I could be persuaded to stay off property in a place like this.:goodvibes

It looks like you got a beautiful unit at Vistana! I'm glad all your requests were met...that's always nice! :thumbsup2

I'm glad to hear the "highway" wasn't a problem - I think some of the Fountains villas back up to I4 which could be noisier. I don't know if you remember seeing it but as you approached our exit the word "Vistana" was spelled out in plants along the side of the road. Right behind that are some Fountains villas.

There's no doubt the villas are more comfortable than on on-site hotel room. It's jut a questions of whether you want to use bus transportation & be in the heart of Disney 24/7 or not. You also can't use the dining plan off-site. There are definite pros & cons depending on what you're looking for.

I like the looks of your villa. We are DVC owners but in the event we are out of points sometime I'll have to keep Vistana in mind. We are definitely spoiled by having the extra space in a villa vs. a regular hotel room. Plus having the in-room laundry is a huge plus for us.

Aww...there is nothing better than getting that first glimpse of the WDW sign.:cloud9:

Great pictures in AK! But...poor Zack for scraping his arm.:sad2: Nick just told me the other day that he didn't really like AK...hmm...I didn't realize that.:confused3 He says there isn't that many rides and it's too much walking. Kids!

Wow! What a beautiful villa you stayed in! Love it! It might be time for us to stop trying to squeeze into a room at Pop. I can't believe all the space you had!!

Wow great villa with a balcony:thumbsup2 Our rooms look so teeny tiny compared to the beautiful villas. I can definitely see why you choose Vistana.

Great last 2 updates looks like the start to Disney was a fairly good one despite the scrapped arm and I remember that first ride pix :) love the villa again looks lovely so much space

Poor Zach! Did he have any skin left on his arm by the end of the trip?

Yeay for heading to Animal Kingdom! Any park is a great park to start the trip, but Animal Kingdom always makes me smile!

I am so jealous of all the space you have in those villas. :goodvibes

I don't think we'll ever go back to a regular sized hotel room! At least not at Disney.

The villa really works out well for us. :thumbsup2

That's funny about Nick & AK... I guess you never know... :confused3

We like to spread out. ;)

Luckily that was the last major boo boo on his arm. Unfortunately he gets his accident-prone-ness from me.

AK was the perfect way to fill a couple hours.

Very nice pics of the villa! Must have been a great place to stay.

Vistana is a great off-site option!

Hey Amy I finally started a PTR-link in my siggie. Please come join me.

Woo Hoo!! I've already joined the party!

Tim is away for two weeks in NC for work. He could have come home for the weekend but he's working at an Inn on a golf course so we decided he should stay & play some golf. So how did we pass the three day weekend (teacher in-service day Friday) without him? By going to see the Harlem Globetrotters! Yesterday we went up to Manchester to see the Globetrotters with DMIL. She had actually brought up the idea a while ago. She has fond memories of taking Tim & Jeff to see them in NYC when they were young. Funny thing is she had no idea they were going to be in Manchester this month! Unfortunately Tim had to miss out but we had a blast.

All the players stay for autographs after the game. I really wanted to meet Big Easy because I'm a big fan of the amazing race... which I should go watch right now... but the line was crazy long so we settled for Zeus:

We only stayed for one autograph because it was way too crowded - the boys were starting to freak out a bit.

It was a really fun day! I'm sure we'll go see them again with Tim when they are back in NH.

Great pics!!:thumbsup2 Aw it looks like the boys had so much fun.

I know what you mean about the lines for autographs. We took the boys about 4 years ago. Lots of fun but it was crowded & we did not get any autographs because of the crowds. They are so fun to watch though. I wouldn't mind going to see them again.

I watch the Amazing Race too!

What a fun day, the boys looked like they had a blast!
