Ground Floor? Top Floor?

I see a lot of people saying they request the top floor or the ground floor.

What are your reasons for liking the ground floor or the top floor? Are all the rooms the same on each floor? Is it a noise issue, convenience, etc?

My hubby likes a ground floor b/c it's easier to get to and bring luggage in and out of. And he swears they are cooler b/c they are lower to the ground...lol!! But he also likes the air on FREEZING even in january! :)

I would guess that if you are staying a mod or deluxe resort and have a balcony with a great view than a top floor would be preferred so you can enjoy the view!

Depends on the resort. At BWV, I request top floor for a better view and less noise. At OKW, I request ground floor because there are no elevators (except for 3 buildings).

My requests depend on what resort we are staying in. If in a deluxe with a balcony I like an upper floor for view. At moderates view isn't much of a factor because there are no balconies, but still like upper floor because I don't particularly want jumping kids above me. If I'm in a resort without elevators I'd be more likely to request a ground floor.

People with kids and want to be near a pool will request ground floor so the kiddos can have easy access. Or they have strollers and don't want to deal with their kids climbing stairs or using the elevator. People with no kids will request a high floor so they don't have kids jumping around (although quite honestly, if your kid is a high jumper and is bothering me, I will call your room and ask that they stop). Then there are people like a PP (and my husband) who don't want to deal with elevators when checking in or out so will ask for a first floor room. And then there are those with special needs (like a wheelchair) that don't want to deal with elevators and obviously can't use the stairs.

Quite honestly, I don't really care where I am. I actually got every single room request once and then realized it was one of the worst rooms ever. So I've learned - just live with what you get and have fun.

I like ground floor as I typically have a stroller and like to roll right in and out and don't want to wait on the elevator when it's late and we're spent! You do run the risk of noisy people walking by, but in my experience at AsMu, POP, and CB it wasn't a problem at all. I've never had jumping kids above either, but I have been annoyed by other people's toilets! Can't change that!

When we stay at WDW we stay at POFQ or POR and always request the top floor. We do this because you have less people passing your room to get to theirs the higher you are. And less foot traffic means your stay is quieter!

Exactly our favorite resorts and reasons as well...especially since the "boys" are big enough to get our luggage up any stairs :)

When we have the whole family, its always a request for ground floor. Just easier with the strollers and all the kids. Adults only, I like top floor for the potentially better view --- only problem is with a lot of the resorts, the trees have matured and block some of the views.
