We were able to get two BWV garden/pool view studios pretty much at the last minute. Would have liked a one bedroom for the washer/dryer as we have a one year old traveling with us, but no availability. I know that the laundry room is on the ground floor. Would that be one floor below the lobby? Are there studios on that level? Is there a way to access them without using an elevator? Has anyone stayed on the ground level? We don't care much about the view, but are more concerned about the noise. We have stayed at BWV once before, and although we loved the resort, we didn't care much for the long cold hallways and the wait for the elevators. I know people on this forum have recommended using the stairs, but we will have a stroller. Thanks for any input.

The laundry room is 1 floor below the lobby. There are villas on that floor that you can access without going on the elevator. I've not had a villa in that floor.

Have fun!

I had a ground level standard view 1BR (lockoff so there was a studio, too.) And loved it with regards to the stroller. No steps or elevator to get to the 9ctual Boardwalk and boats and no stairs to take the exit near the parking canal that you could take to the bus stop. (Depending on your location, the busses may not be as easy)

I LOVE the first floor at BWV. I only used the laundry room once while staying in a studio, I believe its right by the gym.

We had a ground floor villa a few years ago--it was our second DVC stay ever...we loved it. Our villa's patio looked out over the pool, but noise was not an issue...people were in the pool, altho it was January...I don't remember if it was "hardy northerners" or warm weather...do know we didn't notice any noise at all from the pool and we were right "in front" of it...

That was super nice, actually...we could go out our patio doors and take a dip...at least one in our party did so...

The laundry room is in fact on the ground floor (the floor beneath check-in), just a couple of doors from the elevator...

Have fun!

Wow, I never thought about requesting a ground floor room before. That seems like it would be *ideal* when traveling with my parents, who both require ECVs. I'm so glad I saw this thread! :goodvibes

The laundry room is on the same level as the pool, one floor below the lobby level. There are rooms on that level. We had one on our first stay at BWV and though I normally don't like ground floor rooms it was fine. It faced the pool area but was far enough away to feel private.

There are also ground floor rooms on the next level up (the lobby level) that face the boardwalk. I don't think I would like being in one of those rooms because they are so close the boardwalk where there are people walking by from dawn until 2am.

There are also Standard View ground floor rooms that face the driveway. I don't know if those are lobby level rooms or pool level rooms.

All of the ground floor rooms at the BWV are on the level below the lobby. As previously noted, some face the pools/gardens, some face the entryway and some face the boardwalk.

You can get to the ground floor and pool area from the lobby level without taking the stairs or elevator by walking out the front entrance way to the bus stop then crossing the entrance driveway and entering the BWV ground level entrance on the corner. Might be an option if the elevator is broken or you need some fresh air; otherwise, waiting for the elevator will probably always be faster. -- Suzanne

Lisa, I think that the rooms you are thinking of are also on the ground floor. The lobby level BW view rooms are on second floor. The ground level BW view rooms were added a few years ago and are next to the preview center. They have patios rather than balconies and are close to Jellyrolls. I have not stayed in one and would rather not. They are too low to make the most of the BW view.

Last time we were at BWV we had a ground floor villa that faced the entryway but on the corner close to the bridge. LOVED the location for a few reasons!

1) My kids had a yard to play - great fun for them to run around while DH and I sat on the patio with drinks or joined them in tag etc. This was great for afternoon breaks.

2)There was an entrayway right on that corner complete with sidewalks that made pushing out the stroller so quick and easy.

3)The parking lot was SO CLOSE!

4)My parents who visited us several times did not have to walk into the lobby and down those long hallways - they just parked and we let them in by the patio. If parents are in ECV the corner entryway would be very ideal from parking lot.

5)It was also an easy walk through the hallway right to the pool area.

That sounds IDEAL for my parents! I'll have to call MS tomorrow to add the request to the reservation I made for them. Thanks for the tip!

It sounds like MinnieGi had a standard view room. Is that what you have reserved for your parents? There are ground floor rooms in pool/garden view and BW view room also but would not be in the spot that Minnie describes.

Yes, it was a standard view room.

Some of the pool/garden view rooms facing the quiet pool would be in the same area, close to the exit near the pond.

Okay, then this is what I should request. I have a preferred room reserved for them. Thanks so much for the advice!

Thanks for the correction! I guess this means I'm overdue for a visit to WDW to refresh my memory of the layout at BWV, LOL. (Any excuse will do to get away from yet another snow storm!)
