Hi,

Is there anyone who have stayed at the Grosvenor Resort in the downtown area across the street from Downtown Marketplace?
If you stayed there, how was your experience? How are the rooms? How was the transportation?

I have allready booked at the All star Music resort, but now I can get a much cheaper rate here.
Now I don't know what to do. Staying with the All star music and hoping for new booking codes, or book the Grosnenor Resort?
For now it is more then $25 per night cheaper. So for 13 nights it is a lot of money that I can save. Is it worth to pay the extra money to stay at the All Stars resort as it is a pure Disney resort?

Your opinion will be appreciated.

Marcel.

The $325.00 you will save is not worth it. The Grosevnor Resort is dirty, rundown and discusting. My family stayed there, while my husband and I stayed at the Poly - they did not listen to us! My brother's room smelled like vomit. He and his family changed rooms, and although it did not smell like puke, it was dirty and run down. They were late to the parks because the busses from Grosevners were either too crowded to get on or very late, missing valuable park time. We were at the parks 1-2 hours before them! I think you should keep your reservations at the All Star. You will enjoy your Disney experience that much more. My family was very sorry that they wasted their money on such a dump and will never return. My husband and I on the other hand, had a wonderful time. We could not believe the nightmare stories they were telling us. Then we went to the Grosevners and saw it for ourselves - really horrible! Penny wise - pound foolish.

Our family stayed at the Grosvenor for one night prior to our on property stay. A very nice hotel. The pool area was nice. It was extremely nice to be able to walk to Downtown Disney area. Lots of food options. Rooms were clean with a refrig, otherwise nothing special. However not all that different than the standard rooms at the Beach Club. We didn't use the transportation system. And have bnever stayed at the All Stars, but certainly no complaints about the Grosvenor at all.

By the way....there is a current post regarding this hotel - it is currently on page 6 ! Good information which may help you decide:D

If magic is what You want, then go to the Allstar.
We stayed at the music last year in Rock and Roll. It was a little bit of a walk for morning coffee and the buses , but a bit much quiter than calypso( near the food court). It made you enjoy the grounds that much more. The theming was beautiful. Dont let them put you in country music, to far out .
Also we checked in at 7:00am and we were in our room by 7:30
LOL

We checked into the Grosvenor 2 years ago for what was supposed to be 10 nights. We left in 45 min. It was nasty. There was food left in the mini frig, the sink was held up by th e free-standing in room safe, the drawer fell apart in my hand when I tried to open it, and there was a 2 inch gap under our outside door. Our "Disney View" was of a parking lot. I'm not an All Star fan but they are MUCH better than the Grosvenor.

After 9/11, we had a rate for $39 a nite for a tower room, just couldn't pass up the deal, and we had always stayed on-site at a Moderate. It was fine! Easy walk to DD for eating or catching a bus. We also caught the bus from Grosvenor. For the $$ saved on a last minute trip, it was just fine. We had a nice view of trees and the pool. Staff was very nice.

My daughter and I stayed at the Grosvenor during our first trip to WDW five years ago. We had a wing room (no tower room was available at check-in), and although the room was clean, it looked rather run-down to me. I prefer not to stay at this hotel, since I feel there are newer, better looking options within the same price range in that part of Lake Buena Vista.

I have heard the tower rooms are in better condition. If you opt to stay at the Grosvenor, I would suggest requesting a tower room.

My Hubby & I stayed at the Grosvenor last October and were supposed to stay 5 nights and left after 2. We received the hotel on Priceline for $30 a night. We upgraded to a tower room that was absolutely filthy. The room had a terrible musty smell and the bathroom had mold on the floor and in the tub. We complained several times but never received more than a "we'll look into it" answer. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Thanks soooooo much for this information on the Grosvenor. We were booked here for a week in April, but with all the bashing about this hotel, we decided to change plans. We booked a room at the Courtyard at DDD. We have heard good things about this place, and it was actually a cheaper rate than the Grosvenor. This will be our first trip to Disney, and I DO BELIEVE we have made a good move by cancelling the Grosvenor. It also was supposed to be a tower room. Thank you everyone for your replies. We will be leaving 2 months from TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc
