This will be our first Disney cruise and it won't be long now! I have read where people make a grocery stop before boarding. What is typically on your shopping list? I have read the food is so plentiful I was curious as to what things you have found handy to have that weren't otherwise available? Is there a charge for bottled water on the ship? Will they allow you to bring on food and beverages if they are in unopened packages? Thanks for your input. :bounce:

Yes, there is a charge for bottled water, so we bring our own (just a six pack) and then refill the bottles at the deck 9 drink station. We also buy Florida lottery tickets to add to the tip envelopes. When we travelled with friends who had a teen, they stocked up on snack items...handy for bringing into the theater. Snacks are sold outside the theater, but they were probably cheaper at the store.

You can basically bring anything (legal) that you want onto the ship. The issue becomes what you can bring back into the US. I've never found any reason to bring food or snacks of any sort. The food is plentiful, available essentially around the clock, and tastes great. If you want to take food along on excursions, you can order sandwiches, etc. from room services.

What most people get on grocery stops is bottled water or soda. The ship's water tastes fine, but one bottle per person that you can refill is a good idea. It is expensive to buy bottled water on the ship. The ship stocks Sprite, regular and diet Colas...and I think that's all. Since my DD likes Dr. Pepper, we take a 6 or 12 pack along. That way, if she wants a soda during the day, she can get one from our room. She drinks Sprite in the dining rooms.....The soda package is $35 per person on the 7 day, so you can save big bucks.

Thanks for the responses. We definitely will bring bottled water. We have been trying to restrict the soda with our DSs anyway. Hectic schedules mean frequent eating out and that has made soda access way too frequent. I read restricting sodas with kids is the number one low key way to help them if they have a weight problem.

I have read the lemonade from room service is great. I am a little confused about whether there is a charge. It seems that has gone both ways. Anyone know the latest?

Some people like to bring their own beer or wine on board. I wish we would have brought a couple of bottles of wince,...but couldn't figure out the logistics. (Getting up the day before our cruise at 4:30 am didn't help the thought process either.)

Next cruise...I'll be a little bit better prepared!
