We are going to be in a 2 bedroom at OKW for 4 days. We are doing the dining plan so we won't need alot of food. We will be using the Magical express and will not have a car and no way to get a few items.

I like to pick up a few things, like water, soda, juice, bagels and I like to get some liquor (beer, spirits, etc).

So, which grocery delivery service is the best one to use? Which one has the widest selection? What are the fees attached with this? Are the price of groceries more expensive? if yes, does anyone have any examples? What about delivering alcohol? will that be a problem? has anyone ever had liquor delivered?

I find it very expensive to buy liquor on Disney property (at the general store or something) and would like to get it from somewhere else. Normally, when we travel to WDW, we drive and therefore head out on our own and get what we need.

Any suggests would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If you are only there for 4 days and are using the meal plan it might not be cost effective for you to order from Garden Grocer etc. We're not using the meal plan, but I priced their fees to get alcohol delivered for our trip in July and I believe they had a $40 minimum grocery order and a $12 delivery fee. For $52, I would think you could do just as well for yourselves at the store on site. Yes, it's pricey, but IMO wouldn't exceed what you'd be paying for a delivery if you're on the meal plan... Last summer I packed what I call the "travel size" (pint) Captain Morgan. I paid about $8 for it at home - I priced it out of curiosity in the store at OKW and it was $11. So only $3 more. I think beer is priced crazy - like $12 for a 6 pack! :scared1: (Oh, BTW, for alcohol deliveries you either have to be "home" to receive the order with your ID or you can pre-order it I think and fax a copy of your drivers license...sorta seemed like another hassle to me...)

We arrive at WDW on a Thurs. then we're leaving on Sun. for back to back cruises on the Wonder and my inquiry really was for the idea of taking the stuff with us to the ship to save a little on our onboard bill....apparently FL is dry on Sundays until Noon so even if we rented a car to drive to the port we'd have to wait & go later... I'm still working out what I'm gonna do. I have priced getting a rental VS using a car service and I'm leaning toward going with that as we can request a grocery stop between MCO and WDW...it would just be simpler.

we are using garden grocer for this trip and we are staying for 8 days and there are 6 of us. (3 adults/3 kids)
It is a $12 delivery fee and the minimum is a $40 purchase.
If you get beer and breakfast foods, you will probably get to $40.
This is what we are getting:
bagels, cream cheese, apple and orange juice, milk, cereal, doghnuts, muffins, bananas, diet coke, doritos, sun chips. That gave us a total of $51 just for the groceries.
Also, I ordered 2 cases of Miller Lite ($19.99 EACH) more expensive than home but way cheaper than the resort. Garden grocer does not list beer on their shopping guide but I called and they said that "as a service to our customers, we will pick up anything you would like.". I then asked for the price and she told me. When you order, you just type in what size/brand you want in the special instructions area.

I am bringing granola bars/gum/microwave popcorn/coffee & filters/crystal light in my luggage.

We used Garden Grocer the last 2 summers and plan to this summer once again. There are 5 of us.

In 2006, we bought a lot - no meal plan - brought sodas and waters into park. Ate small breakfast in room. We also had them pick up some beer and wine for us. I thought it was great. I hate paying a service charge (yeah, I guess I'm cheap) and in years past we always rented a car for the first day for the primary purpose of grocery shopping. When I compared the service charge to the rental charge it didn't seem so bad. Order (w/charge)= $132.00

In 2007 we did the DDP. We still got milk, snacks, beer, wine, and sodas. Our bill (w/charge)=$67.00

It's true, they don't quote a price for beer and alcohol, but were willing to go get it. And yes, it was much more than what I'd pay at home (but I remember that from doing my own shopping in the WDW area so I don't think they were marking it up.)

What sold me on it was this: insteead of lugging my luggage over to National to rent a car, drop off the family at BCV, check in, send family to the parks, wait until room is available, drive to get groceries, come back and stock the room - I did this: walked to Magical Express, sat on bus while they took us to BCV, checked in, told them a grocery order was coming, went to parks WITH the family, had fun, called to check on room, hours later we checked in the room and the bellman brought up the luggage and the groceries (which were separated so the cold stuff went into a storage cooler), unpacked and headed right back out.

And I thougt, yeah, I can pay $12.00 for that. Oh, I added a tip because I'm never sure if I should, so I added another $12.00 just in case.

Finally I did checked out that wego site but garden grocer seemed more user friendly to me.

I've used Garden Grocer before, and will use them again. Lat time, we were in a Studio, and had the dining plan. But there were 4 of us and it helped to have some basics. This time, we're there for 9 days with 2 toddlers, so we'll be cooking a lot - Garden Grocer again...
