Grocery delivery questions

We are thinking about using a grocery delivery service for the first time for our upcoming trip. We've never used one of these, and had a couple of questions.

I think the two most popular companies are WeGoShop and Garden Grocer. I have a couple of logistics questions.

When do people ask for their groceries to be delivered? Right after they arrive? Hard to know when we will get into our room.

Do I have to be there when the groceries are delivered?

Does Disney Bell Services accept and store deliveries (including cold storage) without our being there?

Or do most people just get them delivered after 5 p.m. when they feel they should be in their villa?

Just trying to figure out when people normally ask for delivery, and if they need to be there to get it. We don't plan on ordering alcoholic products, which I understand would probably need my presence and ID.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

We use Garden Grocer since we are from left coast and don't know East coast stores or brands.

I order about 3 weeks before we leave; I request delivery time to be in the 2 hour window when I think we will be getting to our room. I include their tip at the time I pay for the order. I get a confirmation call from them letting me know they have received my order (I think this call is usually within 3 days of order placement). I receive a text from Garden Grocer notifying me that the groceries have been delivered to Bell Services. You do not need to be there when they are delivered.

If we are getting in really late, I sometimes request delivery the following morning.

Bell Services will store and keep perishables refridgerated or frozen.

When I'm ready, I call Bell Services and request delivery to my room and tip them accordingly.

I prefer wegoshop for several reasons. I prefer creating my own list rather than shopping "virtual aisles". They will shop at the store I request. The cost is the actual cost of the item, not marked up like Garden Grocer. They give me the original store receipt. Their delivery window is 30 minutes, not 2 hours. They have ALWAYS (6 times) been right on time with my delivery. This way I go over the order with the shopper and tip at that time. I do not have to also tip Bell Services to bring it up to me. Their delivery fees are higher, so they are both probably about the same cost in the long run.
I usually schedule a delivery around 5 - 5:30 PM. That way we head to Epcot for lunch and several hours before heading back to our Villa. We have always had a room by 5. Our bags have been delivered by ME. I can unpack, get organzied, put the groceries away and freshen up before we head out again for dinner in WS.
Good Luck

Pakey and Hopefully...thanks for the excellent feedback and advice. Interesting comparison between the two main grocery delivery services.

It sounds like I don't need to be in my room when the groceries are delivered...I guess they automatically seek out Bell services to get them refrigerated before they get delivered to my room?

This won't be a very long trip (6 nights) and only DW & I, so I think it would be a good time to give this a trial.

Thanks. :)

Oh, and one other question. I think there is a Publix on Vineland. Isn't there a different supermarket chain store near WDW?

Yes there are:

Whole Foods Market, 8003 Turkey Lake Road, Orlando, FL

Winn-Dixie, 7840 W Irlo Bronson Hwy, Kissimmee, FL

Target, 3200 Rolling Oaks Blvd, Kissimmee, FL

Walmart Supercenter, 8990 Turkey Lake Rd., Orlando FL

So do you have to meet them in the lobby or do they bring it up to your room? We'll be at BWV and I had to meet the pizza delivery guy in the lobby so I assume it is the same for grocery deliveries?

We've used both (WeGoShop and Garden Grocer). We much prefer Garden Grocer. I choose my items online (usually same brands I buy at home) and choose a window for when we will be arriving at our resort. If they get to resort before us they leave in Bell Services and we get it from bell services. They have been hassle-free and never had an issue with Garden Grocer!

There is a thread under member services regarding GG/WEGO which I responded to the other day in more detail. We had several good experiences with GG. We tried WEGO this year (why mess with something good - no reason, just thought we'd try) - I would never use WEGO again based on our experience.

When they confirm order receipt they give me a cell phone number to call with our Villa number. I call and let them know what villa we are in and they come straight there.

Did get a card from Bell Svcs 2 weeks ago for GreenGrocer, but we elected to taxi to Publix at New Xentury..1 hour of shop and travel, $40 total travel, and got exactly what I wanted. Only thing to make it better is if there was a Wegmans.
Last year we got lucky and a cast member drove us to Publix and stayed in the lot while we shopped. Cost the same in tip.

The last time we stayed at SSR we used the resort grocery service. For our upcoming Christmas trip, I did loom at Garden Grocer after all the positive posts, but when I completed both shopping lists, GG did not save us any money, and I could get everything I wanted from the resort.
I would suggest that you go to GG website and make up you list. It will give you a total price that you can compare to the resort's.
My DH prefers the resort service since the groceries are delivered to the room and put away while we were in the park.

We are staying at the treehouse villas for two days and are contemplating garden grocer. You speak you resort grocery service--could you explain what that is? Also, is there a separate site or service where we could purchase, beer/wine champagne as well?

In addition does anyone know how this works for the treehouses? Do we pick up at bell services?

Thanks for any and all help!:goodvibes:goodvibes
