Grocery Delivery List?

This was posted elsewhere, but thought it was a good thing to start a new thread. I've never ordered groceries delivery before, so I was intrigued by what might be some good basics to add to my list when that time comes.

Cooking in the room is handy for the wallet and waistband, for sure. We have a standing grocery order that we tweak; milk, creamers, sandwich fixings, salad kits, rotisserie chicken, popsicles, eggs, cheese and crackers, popcorn, and we always throw a couple boxes of Mac and cheese in for kid 🆘. Since you’re driving, you could always bring a lasagna or casserole, even just a large salad to peck on between meals. I would suggest soups/stews, but not in FL in June! LOL.
What does your standard list look like?

I'm thinking an unordered list format is best...
  • milk/creamers
  • sandwich fixings
  • salad kits
  • rotisserie chicken
  • popsicles
  • eggs
  • cheese
  • crackers
  • popcorn
  • Mac and cheese

We usually drive and I shop ahead of time and bring it with us, but this past trip last month we flew and had a great experience ordering from Publix via Instacart. Going forward, I'll just plan to do Instacart regardless of if we fly or drive because it was just that easy!

My kids are 4 and 7, which heavily influences my shopping list :earsgirl:. Depending on trip length, my purchases will vary but these will be my minimum standards:
  • bananas
  • Stok Cold Brew coffee (wasn't sure if it would fit in the mini-fridge at BWV but it did!)
  • cream
  • single serve cereal cups, various types
  • uncrustables
  • Publix mini muffins
  • goldfish snack packs
  • bottled water (the refillable stations at WDW seem to be hit or miss with the best tasting water I've found to be in Galaxy's Edge ...a lot of the refillable stations to me still have that sulfur-y WDW water taste to me ...but would love other ideas to not be buying bottled waters if anyone has any!!)
  • sunscreen
Excited to get some inspo from others for future trips! We typically stay in 1BD aside form this last trip and having the full kitchen is truly one of the best things about DVC! Second only to the washer/dryer haha.

I've never done grocery delivery as I've had a car to take trips to Publix/Target (whichever one is closer to my resort) but this is my typical list. This list is compiled as if I have a 1 or 2 bedroom with a full kitchen/fridge.

- 1 flat of water
- eggs
- bacon
- seasonings such as salt and pepper
- olive oil
- ingredients to make sandwiches such as bread, deli meat and cheese
- yogurt
- sunscreen
- alcohol: I usually buy a variety pack of beer as a beer at a pool bar or a restaurant can run you $11-12 per drink and you can get a 6 pack for that price. Villas do have a bottle opener but I usually buy cans as you can take them to your resort pool which is allowed but you cannot drink them while physically IN the water.
- milk
- coffee: I bring my own coffee maker as it's been hit or miss if my room will have a Keurig or not. For example I recently stayed at Saratoga and BLT and both rooms had a drip coffee maker while my non DVC stay at Coronado had a Keurig. I know if you're flying in it's impossible to bring your own machine but if you have space in your car I recommend it.
- frozen pizzas
- fruit such as bananas and apples
- snacks such as granola bars and snack size bags of chips

During my last stay in a 1 bedroom I did tacos as a dinner option which is super easy to do in a DVC villa. So you would need ground beef, tortillas, cheese, sour cream, tomatoes, etc.

On longer trips we will buy pasta and sauce and the trashy Parmesan cheese, plus 1-2 put-directly-into-oven meals, and eat dinner in the room a few times

On shorter trips we use the list above and eat every breakfast and, now that we have a toddler again, many lunches in the room when we stop back for nap time.

I use Walmart and you can create your list there and add and subtract up until the day before delivery. Most of the other delivery services are similar. The key is that if you have a particular brand or item that you want, check out the various services to see if they stock it.

Just wanted to add, we use Owners Lockers and fly COO, but I checked with TSA, and so long as food is frozen solid in a brick, you can bring food. No freezer gel packs/bricks or ice to keep it cold, but I am sorely tempted to bring frozen soups/stews on our winter trips.

What I HAVE brought is precooked sausage and bacon on the plane in Ziplock bags. That stuff trashes the kitchen to cook and smells up the house, let alone a DVC villa. It’s not breakfast without a pork product on the side, LOL.

Spaghetti and meatballs is easy.

Tacos (bring precooked meat frozen.)

Bagels/English muffins for breakfast sandwiches.

We use Drizly and have tequila and a margarita bucket and beer/wine delivered. Mix the margarita bucket, throw it in the freezer and put it in your Yeti/Tervis/Beast/Stanley cup poolside and save $50 instantly.

My son is obsessed with ramen/cup of soup.

My husband likes oatmeal cups midweek to get back on track after too much 🥩 dinners.

Salad kits with rotisserie chicken and veggies I dice to zhuzh it up.

Whatever meal we had at Jikos is always an amazing breakfast reheated.

Pretty simple list as we like to eat out alot when we are there.

Generally, from Costco or Sams Club.
  • Case of water
  • Milk
  • OJ
  • Eggs/bacon
  • cereal
  • protein drinks (Power Protein or similar)
Since the magical express ended we drive to get our provisions, but we've used Amazon Fresh in the past with great success.
