Anyone get groceries to snack on at the room or eat instead of eating in the parks and at the hotels? If so, where do you go? We've gone to Wal-Mart in the past, but won't have a car to travel this time...

We usually stop at Winn Dixie on Apopka-Vineland on our way in and get things for quick breakfasts and lots of bottled water, plus a gallon or 2 for brushing teeth...(I really don't like the taste of Florida water.:crazy2:) We always eat out for lunch and dinner. This year we decided to forego the car since we'll be at monorail resorts the whole time. We're planning on using Garden Grocers we will deliver your order for, I think, $12...

We eat three meals a day, but sometimes you get hungry while resting at the room. Instead of grabbing an ice cream bar or other snack from the food court or park for a snack we get chips, crackers, grapes, cheese, juice, soda, beer and water from Goodings, which is at Crossroads. You could grab a cab or use the towncar service that allows a grocery stop before arriving at the resort.

The resorts with villas have lots of grocery items in their stores, but they are more expensive than Wal-Mart. However, you are saving money by not renting a car on the other hand.

You can always send a box UPS etc., to your resort filled with goodies a few days beforeyou arrive. When we went with my cousins, they shipped a bunch of baby food, snacks, disposable bibs and so on. It was not a problem-you just get the address from the resort and put your reservation number/confim. number on the address as well. Shipping water and soda is too costly, so that is a problem.

I do not know much about it but many people like the grocery delivery services. It is easier to get the water and soda and all other groceries from what I understand.

Someone on the boards could explain the grocery service more to you or use the search function. Good luck. :)

While we mostly ate out around Disney, we bought a few snacks and water/powerade from this place for our room. You just order it and when you arrive at Disney the stuff will most likely be waiting in the luggage department for you.

We used them in April and in October. Great service and they deliver for a very nominal fee. We'd use them again!

Wow! Great tip! We'd mostly use it for water/Gatorade and some snacks for my DD2. Bananas, chips, etc.

We use gardengrocer . com too...we have had great luck with them...usually order two cases of water, some breakfast foods for the room (we are not big breakfast eaters so we do cereal, bagels, poptarts, 1/2 gallon of milk, etc.)...there are microwaves and toasters at the food courts that you can use...anything perishable that is ordered will be put into a fridge behind the counter until you arrive and claim your groceries...I would suggest only getting a 1/2 gallon of milk at the most though...the fridges in the rooms are small...and REMEMBER...the value resorts do not automatically come with fridges, you must pay extra for them. Just ordering water alone is so worth it...the cost for a bottle of water on site is crazy...I am thinking $2.50-$3.00...I know the same you would pay for it anywhere like this but when you are there for a week it really adds up.

I used them the last time with great service!!!! They even got beer. They don't list it, but state you should write it in the comments area and they will get it for you. I was just on their site and they still offer such a great variety. We eat breakfast in our room and take sandwiches, snacks and water to the parks---of course we buy goodies at the parks too.....how can you help not doing that, but with two growing kids the first thing out of their mouths is " I'm Hungry!!!" it sure saves a ton, plus they are used to Mommy's bag of tricks even when we go out around town at home.
