Hi there,
We are off in a few weeks and trying to plan our meals... We are staying at SSR in a 2 bed and intend on doing quite a lot of cooking (makes feeding DS3 easier). So the big question is - should we get a taxi to Walmart and enjoy a little shopping or should we try online shopping. We used garden grocer last time, but had some issues (not their fault) where we didn't get quite what we thought we were getting (our misunderstanding) so are thinking it might just be easier to go and chose stuff for ourselves... Anyone know how much a taxi would be? I've read on a thread that's a few years old that it could be $40?

Thoughts appreciated :goodvibes

You can get a taxi fare estimate from here http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&so...4aD6BQ&usg=AFQjCNGLa1k1rymamtiOz8OOUmGBAGm6vQ

Ooh, definitely go to Walmart - but be strong! there's a lot of temptation in those aisles

I think we paid about $32 from the Pop last year, using the taxi's that are waiting at the hotel, that was for an eight seater taxi though as everyone wanted to go to Walmart :)

I'd be another one to vote for the taxi idea as you can't beat browsing the aisles of a US supermarket - there's so much more that you can get to eat.

Except I'd go to Publix rather than Walmart, but that's just personal preference!

We are in the same predicament. I have all my ADR'S booked but wanted bottled water diet coke bread milk butter etc and cereals . I know some foods can be taken into the country but I dont fancy lugging loads of bottles of water with us. There again could take some squash and sports bottles. Will see. Will have to declare it though. As 2tiggies says its easy to declare and just another quick scanner to go through. We are at OKW by the way.

Thanks for all these comments... I think we've decided to take a trip the first morning. If we decide to take DS 3 what happens about a car seat in a taxi?

Depends on what you want to buy if Sodas, beers, wine and water, you can walk to the Hess garage at Down-town Disney. I usually do in the morning as am an early riser would take 15min walk there and 15min walk back from SSR (they do other food items cereals, milk, crisps, donouts think as a 7-11petrol station)
Or walk to supermarket at the crossroads(30 min from SSR) and get a taxi ($10-$15)back, we would do this if we were planning on eating in that area so would do the shop in the evening when we have had our meal

Go to Publix and go at lunch time and bring back of there yummy subs or wraps for lunch :goodvibes

Like Walmart for other stuff but always food shop at Publix :thumbsup2

Have always used Walmart but this tripped we tried wegoshop and SIL used garden grocer.
I spent a lot of time picking what I wanted off the Walmart site and listing it all, also split it into 2 seperate deliveries. Only to find that both shops were done at Publix as it was more convenient for her, also what was cost effective buying in bulk at Walmart was a fortune as they purchased in smaller loads from Publix, so will not be using them again.
Also SIL requested some beers via garden grocer not on there list but will purchase it for you. Took 3 days to get it sorted and finally delivered to them. Several conflicting stories from different members of there staff.
So I will do Walmart in the future a little more in taxi's but at least we will get just what we want, (plus a few extra's I am sure)
