We just decided to fly in a day earlier than expected. Since there were 0 DVC studios available at this late date, we are staying at the Doubletree near Seaworld. What would be a good/inexpensive place to stop for groceries when driving from the airport to the hotel? We are checking into AK for 7 days after staying at the doubletree so I want to have my groceries and be ready to hit the ground running!

Thanks for your help! Now only 2 days till we leave instead of 3!! :cool1::cool1:

There are a couple Publix supermarkets on south International Drive that I know of:

8145 Vineland Avenue
Orlando, FL 32821-6847
(407) 238-9924

5350 Central Florida Pkwy
Orlando, Florida 32821
(407) 239-0844

4874 Cayview Avenue
Orlando, FL 32819

I have been to all of them and they are all really clean and well stocked. The top one is the largest and the closest to Seaworld. It's also usually the least busy, since its a little bit off the beaten track.

Thank you so much!

No problem. We live a few hours away and we almost always go to the Vineland store before and after each trip. Their selection of items is much better than the stores in our local area.

A word of advice though... Avoid the Vineland store on Sunday morning unless you have other business there. Traffic control is extremely poor during the service hours at the shrine. Combine that with a lot of people not knowing where they are going and you have serious snafus.

The only other supermarket I can recommend is the Publix just off of I4, one exit south of the Magic Kingdom, at Champions Gate. The prices are a little more reasonable, its really easy to get to and is usually fairly quiet.

I would avoid the Wal-Marts unless you are desperate and its after normal business hours. Some of the areas they are in can be kind of hairy crime wise and / or a nightmare traffic wise. They are also usually very crowded too.

Since you are in the area, do you have any idea if the publix at 9930 Universal is close to my hotel? My hotel address is 10100 International Drive. On the map it looks like I can stop on my way from the airport off 528, which is what I am trying to do. Thanks!

Williamsburg Town Center and Lake Cay Commons will be the closest. There's a super WM just across I-4 at Dr. Phillips near Westgate lakes but you have to go around to get there from that area though if you can route it directly on the way, still might be worth it.

Stacey, this is probably too late a reply, but that Publix isn't bad either. And it is on your way. You just have to get off the parkway an exit early and then get back on it.

Dean, I don't know what it is about those Super WalMarts, but I have never had a good experience at any of them. Too many tourists and too many people looking to pray on the tourists. I'm not trying to sound like a snob, but I have never had that sort of experience at the Publix.

I don't think I am being over sensitive either. I grew up in the Bronx, lived there for over twenty years... And there are times that I have been in the parking lot of the Westgate Walmart and the Sand Lake Walmart and felt nervous.

I just also wouldn't want to start my vacation with that sort of experience. Kind of sets the karma dial in the wrong position.

Never had concern or issue at either the on in Dr. Phillips or the one of 536. Been to both all hours of the day or night.
