Ok i know this is going to sound like a silly question...or mission impossible...but does anyone have ANY tips (besides dont ride) for staying dry or dryer on grizzly river run... thanks for any tips!! also do they have lockers outside of the ride?? or somewhere on the ride to put your stuff so it doesnt get wet... Thanks!

yes there are lockers you can put your stuff in just to ride the attraction. i think its like 20 min free but after that, you have to pay for it.

I know a lot of ppl bring and wear raincoats. :)

I suggest getting a poncho, they do sell them at the shop near the ride. And they do have lockers.

The poncho's are sold in the store next to the ride. They are $8 (maybe $7) and they are pretty flimsy but they do the job. Mine ripped down the front a bit and thanks to some advice given here on the Disboards, I took it back to the store and they gave me a new one....no questions asked. Also, try to sit in one of the middle seats - not one of the ones where there is a gap (where you enter). The water seems to pour in there more than other places however, all that said, you can still get wet no matter where you sit. We just got back and had a blast on that ride. If you are going when the weather is warm, it's fun to ride it at night just before park closing....it doesn't seem to be as crowded. We rode it four times in a row!

We do ponchos too! Check sporting goods stores or even WalMart for disposable rain ponchos if you want to go cheaper than DL. Off 'campus' they cost $2-3. :thumbsup2

But, we love our bright yellow Mickey ponchos. Scored them years ago in WDW. They travel w/ us on every trip!

I hate to break it to you, but like it or not, you're going to getting soaked on this ride no matter where you sit. Found this out the hard way when we went in early Feb/09. Hubby took the kids on the ride the first time, and swore that the middle seat was the driest. On our last day in the park the kids really wanted to go on it, so I sat in the middle seat as requested by DH. The first drop the raft went down sideways, and a huge wave came over the raft, and got me soaked from head to toe:rotfl2::rotfl2:. Other than recommending the ponchos, my other idea for you is to put your feet over the holes in the bottom of the raft if you can. Water shoots up like a geyser if you don't and will get you soaked:thumbsup2. Either way, you're in for a wet ride. It's a lot of fun, and worth the wet ride. It was one of my boys fav rides in both parks. Have a great day!

I usually stock up on cheap disposable ponchos at dollar tree. You can get 2 for $1. They are folded up really small, so they arent bad to carry around, and for that price its not painful to toss them after the ride! I've also gotten them for under a $1 each at Walmart in the sporting goods dept. We try to ride a couple times back to back, so we can get use from the ponchos before we toss them. Oh, and I recomend taking your socks off before going. Wet socks really suck and take forever to dry

Last year, I rode this ride 3 times before getting soaked. The other 2 times, I was barely wet.

We avoid getting too wet on this ride by buying the cheap Walmart ponchos beforehand-- they come with a carrying bag to stuff them back into, about the size of a grapefruit, maybe, folded up. Another good tip I got from Unofficial Guide-- bring wastepaper basket liners. They fold up really tiny, but you can unfold them and slip them over your feet after you buckle in. It's enough coverage to keep your shoes and socks from getting soaked. :thumbsup2

also, keep in mind that on most days may-october, it's not only hot enough to ride GRR, but hot enough that your clothes will be dry within about an hour if you do get wet (i find that it's always within about half an hour). that doesn't include socks though, lol.

The lockers start at 2 hours for free. I've heard that they sometimes give you longer than that for free, but I've only seen it start at 2 hours. If you come back later, you get to pay for the privilege to get your stuff out.

We wear ponchos, we try to take off socks, I try to bring extra clothes for anyone in my family who would be bothered by wet clothes.

I highly recommend watching the ride for about 10 minutes, to see the various ways (that are visible to the viewer) that you can get wet. If you're going during warm weather, the geysers at the end will be on and just when you thought you were safe from the water...you're so very much not.:upsidedow

Get the cheapo ponchos from the dollar store, they are worth it. Then when you're done riding give your ponchos to someone waiting in line. :) The locker are 2 hours for free, Bumber is correct. I like to take my shoes and socks off and put them in a plastic bag before riding, then once we get off I wait for my feet to dry and put them back on. :)

I wore Water proof pants and a water proof jacket.

My jacket got soaked i ended up in the seat near the gap but it all dried pretty quickly.

The sign is correct you will get wet there is no 2 ways about it

In all the times that I've ridden GRR, I have found that the middle seats (in general) get less wet than the ones on the "sides". However, the two waterfalls can completely screw up that theory because you never know who is going to be at the bottom of those two.

DD begged me to go on this ride with her.

This is us just before the tidal wave....I mean geyser hit....:lmao:

I wore a poncho on it in February and it helped quite a bit. One thing I wasn't expecting was the 'backwash' and sloshing of the water on the seats after the initial soaking. I got wetter by the water sloshing in the sides of the poncho by my legs and booty than by anything else.

Wow I am a brave soul after all as I ride Screamin with a loose harness, Tower of Terror with the belt snug but enough for hang time, do the swinging gondolas on Sun Wheel, and do not chicken out and wear ponchos on any water ride. Note that some people do not like when you call them chicken for wearing ponchos and yes it is your feet and rump that gets really wet even if you are unlucky enough to not get your top half wet. Same with Splash Mountain and the damp rump even though I was not that wet.
