Grey Goose Slushie

3 cups of alcohol? are you sure its not 3 oz? that sounds like a lot of alcohol. Don't get me wrong I am willing to try it ;)

Nope, that's right! But you are adding a LOT of ice (water) to that, so it is really not overpowering at all.

:santa:

Just alcohol and limeade but if its for the grey goose slushie I'd do lemonade. I have a friend that is a bartender and she always said its rare to find a good sour mix. For my margaritas I use half a can of the tequilla to the full can of frozen limeade.

That is almost my exact margarita recipe, it is delicious. I just add a bit of orange juice and float a little Summit Pale Ale on top.

I'd say you making between 1 and a half to 2 quarts of drink.

So at maybe 6 oz per drink its only 3-4 oz. alcohol per drink. Similar to a Long Island Iced Tea.

OK still a fair amount but its not like its pure vodka.

I tried the recipe as listed and found it not to be quite the ticket. I increased the ratio of sour mix and added some sugar to make it more palatable, but it wasn't really like the ones from France. Glad I made a small batch. I may try it with the frozen lemonade next.

Keep us posted Shan-man! Let us know when you get an acceptable result! We really appreciate your dedication to research, by the way!!!:lmao::lmao:

Here is the recipe I make at work.
Fill the glass your going to use with ice. The smaller the cubes the better, but do not use shaved ice.
1 1/4 oz Goose.
Now, the tricky part. I would NOT use sour mix. Nor would I use lemonade. I would use any of the minute maid frozen concentrates. and that can go from oj to lemonade, to the cranberries..any of them.
then, thaw them in water. make it very tart, too tart to drink alone. But do NOT make it to the recipe on the carton. the little bit of water u use to dilute it, plus the ice in the glass will water it down.
Thats the reason you cant make it to recipe. once you add the ice to blend, it gets waaaay watery. keep it tart!!
add the water/minute maid mix and vodka and fill the glass (of ice)
take the whole glass of stuff and dump in the blender. blend low until a good consistance.
Once its in the blender, you can add more mix or maybe water to get it to the right consistancy.
This seems elaborate, but if you dont use concentrate almost full strength, the drink will not have the right flavor.

1. I cannot believe I missed these over the years, thankfully the disboards have enlightened me, it's on my to do list for Nov.
2. Chartle: I am not sure about svedle vodka but i looked at your options. We have tried VanGogh pineapple vodka and it is excellent. VanGogh lemon is available to you for $20 and I would imagine it is good as well. Btw, I spent $23 in Orange Co, NY for Van Gogh. It sounded iffy at first, Pineapple vodka, but I wanted to make my husband a drink on Father's day and it called for it. We were pleasantly surprised.
3. Luckily, we were given a bottle of Grey Goose Citron at Christmas, husband gets a lot of bottles at Christmas, and it is hit or miss as to whether it is something we use. We lucked out this time, I actually had it in the old fridge in the basement!
4. Try these ratios:
1 cup Grey Goose Citron
1/3 cup Minute Maid Frozen Lemonade
1 1/3 cup ice.
Combine Grey Goose and Lemonade first and then blend with ice.
We did 2 ways, whole ice and blender or crushed ice and mix with lemonade/vokda.
Made 24 oz.
We liked these very much. At first I thought too tart, DH thought perfect.
I added a splash of water to mine but didn't the second time b/c ice dilutes as it melts.
As I said, I never had them at Epcot but they were very good as we made them. I would imagine very similar. I did not want to chance wasting 3cups of Grey Goose if not right.
Thanks to all posters for your input and advice. Looking forward to Nov for a true taste test!

If you look at the site, I would have to buy a case of 12 (where's the drunk smiley?)

I appreciate the info as i've tried on several occasions to make both of these drinks

i asked one of the CM's dispensing the Grand Marniers for the recipe and he insisted rum is involved. have any of you tried it this way?

If you want to save some money I can almost guarantee that you won't taste the difference between Grey Goose and, for example, Smirnoff vodka. it's a neutral spirit and is designed to have no flavor (or as little as possible).

Try a blond taste test and you'll be surprised.
