DH enjoys a Grey Goose Martini every now and then when we go out and I would like to surprise him and make him a couple at home on Valentines. I've never made a Martini before so I need help with the recipe. He usually orders a Grey Goose Dirty Martini so if you make a good one please post how:)

I usually use this ratio for others:

3Part(s)AbsolutVodka
1Part(s)Olive Juice
1Part(s)Extra Dry Vermouth

for myself I add more olive juice because I like mine super dirty

I put my glass in the freezer
Then I fill the shaker with ice, toss in:
3 ounces Vodka
1 ounce extra Dry Vermouth
1/2 ounce Olive juice

Shake up, strain, pour into glass with 2 stuffed Olives

If he likes his martinis very dry, pour the dry vermouth into the shaker first. Coat the ice cubes and spill out the vermouth. Then add the vodka, shake and serve with olives.

I like my martinis dirty. I don't care for vermouth, so I use vodka (Grey Goose, of course) and a bunch of olive brine. If you want to impress your DH and he likes bleu cheese, get some bleu cheese stuffed olives to garnish this drink. YUM!

Hmm, now you've got me thinking...

IMO, that is WAY WAY too much vermouth. Just a splash or two is fine.

As for the dirt....let him put his own in. Cuz once again, both of those recipes have too much dirt.

I take a short cocktail straw, put it in the olive jar, put your thumb over the top of the straw and then put that juice in my drink.

If you like the dirt, that's great, buy again IMO an ounce of dirt would ruin a beautiful drink.

Here is how I order my martini: Grey Goose martini straight up, with a little dirt and 3 olives.

I order a Grey Goose martini, dirty and up.

I like the dirt, though, although I don't measure. I go by taste... and I like the salty taste.

Ratio-SCHMATIO!

Take a mixer. Fill with ice. Pour in the vodka. Waive the bottle of vermouth over it.

Shake.

Strain into a martini glass and add whatever he likes as garnish. Me? I'm a three-olive girl.

Funn, I use this same recipe with my gin!!!!!! :lovestruc

Geez sorry - that's how I like my dirty martinis :confused3 I always get compliments from people when I make them

LOL! See, now I need like 10 times that much dirty. I like mine almost half and half. Half vodka, half olive juice, and I prefer the regular pimento stuffed olives to the fancy ones. Blue cheese to me gives the drink an odd creamy texture as it starts to dissolve.

Ooops, I forgot the dirt. Which means he likes olives. Splash a bit of the olive juice into the glass before the olives.

Thanks everyone!! I will attempt to make his first one and if he doesn't like it he can make the next - lol

He does like blue cheese -I may have to get blue cheese olives:)

Great thread! I've tried and tried and can never get it right. To me, less is more when it comes to the Vermouth. I also like mine dirty, but you can always practice until you get it right :drinking1 I think I'll try a couple of these suggestions and see how they work out. Looks like I know what I'll be doing after DS's baseball practice today ;)

:lmao: That may be what I need to do - try a couple out first. Think he'll notice that half the Grey Goose is gone before he gets home:rotfl2:

Buy him a new bottle. He won't need to know why :thumbsup2

I really like my martinis filthy, especially gin ones, but I can't stand olives. DH thinks it's one of the major mysteries of the universe how someone who picks olives out of everything loves so much olive juice in her drink.
