I love reading about all of your great dining choices!! We can't wait to visit the Poly and try some of those wonderful dishes/drinks!

As far as that tasty Lapu Lapu..:)...can you order one when you are eating at Kona (or O'hana), or do you have to get it from the bar?

Woo hoo you got a lapu lapu :woohoo: I agree, they are so strong, aren't they? I couldn't finish mine last time we were there for lunch so I gave it to my bf. And even though I didn't drink the whole thing, I still was a bit dizzy! It wore off quickly, good thing- I didn't want to be loopy when we went back to MK :upsidedow

Thanks so much for reading :) you will be pleased to know that you can indeed order a Lapu Lapu at the Kona Cafe as well as from the Tambu Lounge at the Poly

I didn't have any trouble finishing my Lapu Lapu :) I like to think that I had been in training for this moment since arriving in Orlando the previous week ;)

And another great update, Linda!
:worship: You actually had a Lapu Lapu AND another cocktail! Wow! You're my kind of girl! :rotfl2:
I have never attempted the Lapu Lapu - I always settle for the Backscratcher - well, it comes with a free souvenir, can't turn that down! :rotfl:
Loved your food choices, we have had the same items and they are soooooooo good. The bread is a temptation in itself! I could make a meal out of it, :goodvibes

Can't wait for more!

Just loving your reviews. I LOVE Kona too, that pork chop looked fab. The thing I find about pork chops is there is no eating on them as they are mainly fat. Did your DH find this pork chop to be different! It certainly sounds like a meal I would like to order.

I also need to have a Cinnabon now, can you believe I walked right past that place at Universal and didn't go in, OMG, that will be rectified in September;)

BTW those muffins look awesome!

Great update Linda!

We are also going to Kona on our first full day at WDW in August. I may have to try a lapu lapu!:rotfl:

I'm trying to lose some weight before our trip so why oh why am I torturing myself by looking at food porn??:sad2: Especially all the pastries (yes Joh! I'm talking about you too!:lmao:)

Keep up the good work!:thumbsup2

I'm the same - I avoided this board like the plague since I was trrying to lose weight and it hasn't worked so I'm also torturing myself daily. Share the pain, that's what I say :rotfl2:

Hello and thanks for reading :yay: I asked DH about the chop and he tells me that it wasn't fatty at all. He isn't a fan of really fatty meat and he loved this dinner :lovestruc

I've just caught up with your report and really enjoyed it Linda, though now I am starving!! LOL

Can't wait to read more. :)

Let’s hop on the monorail and head off to Epcot :thumbsup2

IMG_1405-1.jpg

'Ooh look, it’s the tron-orail'

Our plan today was to get to Epcot ahead of opening time and hit the big attractions in Future World as we hadn’t spent much time there on our previous Epcot day

I grabbed my usual coffee and snack from the hotel lobby and soon we were on our way

By the time we got to the (virtually empty) Epcot parking lot it was pouring with rain so we ran from the car to the turnstiles and handed over $16 for two plastic bags with holes in the sides

IMG_0411-1-2.jpg

Now I have to admit I am not the biggest person you are likely to meet but these ponchos are HUGE :scared1: I was seriously thinking of checking out of our hotel and pitching up at Fort Wilderness with it for a few nights :lmao:

So there we were, two mad English folk, dressed in oversized garbage bags in the pouring rain, laughing hysterically and waiting for the park to actually open when a friendly cast member came over to chat to us

He told us that we deserved a special treat for standing around in the rain and proceeded to take us through the turnstiles for ‘a little surprise’.

At this point there was probably about 20 or so other people waiting in the rain and he allowed everyone through the turnstiles and asked us to wait under cover at the edge of the gates.

The park still wasn’t due to open for 30 minutes when suddenly around the corner we saw 5 or 6 CMs dressed in Soarin’ uniforms approaching us

Our little bit of Disney Magic was that we were all going to be taken directly to Soarin’ for a ride before the park opened

Needless to say we loved it and were so happy that we had made the early drive in the rain today.

By the time we left Soarin’ the park still wasn’t officially open but as we made our way over to Mission Space, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy & Pluto were all waiting in the Character Meet & Greet building for us.

We got loads of pictures and still ended up being the first group onto Mission Space :yay:

Sorry for going off the food topic but it was such a cool start to the day I wanted to share

The rain cleared up and the sun began to shine by about 10.30 am so we packed up our ponchos and finished visiting all of the attractions before heading over to World Showcase to get some lunch

DH really wanted to try the Lotus Blossom Café but when he looked at the menu he went off the idea. I was secretly quite pleased as I really wanted to check out Morocco so that’s where we headed

Oooh I should mention ………. I stopped off in Italy for a Rosa Regale on the way (well it’s a long walk )

As someone who doesn’t eat meat, the menu at The Tangierine Café really appealed to me so we got a nice table outside under an Orange Blossom Tree (the smell from the blossom was divine) and tucked into our lunch

Here is DHs meal

IMG_0435-1.jpg

Lamb Specialty Wrap - served with Tangierine Couscous salad and Lentil salad

DH really enjoyed this. This was a generous serving of lamb and it was very tender. The yoghurt sauce that it was served with was also very good. He isn’t a fan of Lentils so he didn’t even try them (double helping for me) After trying a little of the Couscous he said it was OK but didn’t ‘wow’ him

Here’s my lunch ……..

IMG_0434-1.jpg

Vegetable Platter - falafel, tangierine couscous salad, hummus, tabouleh, lentil salad and marinated olives

This was the perfect lunch for me. I love couscous, olives, hummus, tabouleh etc and if ever anyone tells me that theme parks are just about hamburgers I will show them this picture.

The bread was wonderfully fresh and my only complaint was that I would have preferred a bigger piece to eat all of my hummus with. All of the salads were great and certainly tasted freshly made.

The only real let down was the falafel. They were rock hard and overcooked but I’ll let that one slide as the rest of the dish was so yummy

Overall a big thumbs up from both of us for the Tangierine Café and it has made me want to go back and try Restaurant Marrakesh at some point (love to hear reviews if anyone has tried it)

No great surprise with the rating then ………….

Next up ……………. A sweet treat more than worth the walk

I absolutely love Tangieriene Cafe...so yummy! I've been lurking for all of your reviews so far. They're great!

Just to tell you, Marrakesh is awesome! DH and I have eaten there twice and even our kids enjoyed it. We love Tangierine Cafe as well. Love your early morning, rain-soaked pixie dust surprise, too!

More great reviews, your lunch at the Tangerine Cafe looked so yummy! That was wonderful getting picked to ride soarin before the park opened!:)

Your food at Tangerine Cafe looks devine - much better than what we had! :lmao: So I hope we just made it there on an off day and hope that we will get lucky again there too!
As for Marrakesh - we have eaten there and had a bit of a mixed bag so to speak! ;)
Tom had a fish dish and quite liked it, I had the couscous and while mine was nice in taste it looked like someone had dropped the plate a few times, or thrown the food onto it from a great height! :rotfl2:
I am a dedicated follower of Gordon "the great" Ramsay :worship: and so on his side when it comes to clean plates being served! I worked at one of Austria's most famous hotels (The White Horse Inn - there is even a musical about it) and dirty plates were a huge no go!
We were unlucky with our table too, not only was it wobbly, but the airconditioner kept dripping on the table too. We had to move to another table, :goodvibes
Loved the desserts and are now sure to return, just didn't find an opening for it yet!

Okay ........ I'm done!
Thanks for your review! I LOVE it ......... as usual! Keep them coming! I still have 109 days to go until we go back!

Love your reviews. Where is the Cheesecake Factory? I can't even find a menu for it on allears or the WDW website. TIA

I am so late to the party but have just read all 18 pages of your fab reviews, and I can declare that I am now offically starving! :faint:

There is a special something about Wilderness Lodge, dh & I fell in love with it too - it is our favourite resort. I am sure you will love Artist Point on your next trip. :thumbsup2

So many great reviews that I can't comment on them all but I have added even more notes for my June trip, especially lots of demon drinks to try. Although it's not like I need any encouraging to begin with. ;) :lmao:

Can't wait to read more. :thumbsup2

Totally with you on the presentation of a dish :) I can't stand it when plates look messy  It shows a lack of attention to detail and you know what they say? ....... you eat with your eyes ;)

Love your reviews. Where is the Cheesecake Factory? I can't even find a menu for it on allears or the WDW website. TIA

Hello there :wave2: Sorry if I mislead you but there isn't a Cheesecake Factory on Disney property. The one we went to was at the Mall At The Millenia. It is worth a visit if you are shopping there

I am so late to the party but have just read all 18 pages of your fab reviews, and I can declare that I am now offically starving! :faint:

Welcome :cheer2: It's never too late to join :thumbsup2. We just loved WL as soon as we walked into the lobby and will most certainly be visiting Artist Point when we stay there

Hi everyone, just a quick update in between doing some 'work' :surfweb:

After our lunch at the Tangierine Café in World Showcase we strolled around some of the other Pavilions before deciding that we would head out of Epcot via the International Gateway and walk over to Fantasia Gardens for round three of the mini-golf challenge.

OK, this was quite a walk and following DH beating me at golf yet again I needed cheering up with sugar ;)

Oooh, I knew just the place (thanks to the DIS) and we walked back over to the Beach Club and headed into Beaches and Cream

What a cute little place. We had missed the lunch rush so it was fairly empty and we got a table straight away.

We both decided on the same thing

‘Old-Fashioned Sundae – With your choice of one of the following toppings: Marshmallow, Strawberry, Pineapple, Peanut Butter, Hot Fudge, Butterscotch, or Chocolate Syrup topped with Whipped Cream, Toasted Almonds and A Cherry. Two Scoops ($5.99)’

DH went for the Hot Fudge

IMG_0440-1.jpg

And I chose Strawberry

IMG_0443-1.jpg

Wow these were good  I’d like to tell you that we didn’t manage to eat these huge ice cream creations but I can’t  we nearly licked the Sundae Glasses clean :rotfl2:

We will definitely be going back to Beaches & Cream on our next visit to WDW and I have to add that all of the food that the servers were bringing our looked great (DH loved the look of the burgers)

popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn:: out of popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

We waddled back to Epcot and made our way (slowly) back to the front of the park and back to our car

When we got back to the hotel we both decided we didn’t feel like heading back out again so after a couple of drinks at the pool bar we ordered a pizza from room service and watched some TV :happytv:

Another early start tomorrow – Breakfast with Mr D. Duck

Up Next – Tusker House Breakfast
