Just got back from 10 days at the Poly and everything was great!!
I know there has been alot of negative reviews lately about the Poly but I wouldn't be too concerned about them.
I am an avid Disney and Poly fan and so my standards are high where they're concerned, but with the exceptions of a few things, I didn't find much to complain about. I've read alot of negative comments about full garbage cans and housekeeping service but the only issues I saw were:
- our room wasn't cleaned until 4:30 and we needed to shower for dinner. I called housekeeping and they sent up towels right away and asked us if we wanted to have our room serviced by a certain time. I said that 12:00 would be great and it was cleaned everyday by 12:00 from that day forward!!
- someone had dropped a glass by the quiet pool and they didn't quite get all the glass but once they were told, they quickly came back to thoroughly clean it before someone was hurt.
- "1" concierge woman was not very pleasant and wouldn't smile for anyone! I guess everyone can have a bad day -- but not when they're at Disney!!
Other then that I don't have anything to complain about. I had requested our favorite building - Samoa - and they accomodated us and even gave us the exact room we had last year! Everyone was pleasant (except for that 1 woman)and more than willing to help out if they can.
It really is one of the better hotels in regards to location, theme and comfort. To be able to walk down to the beach (or be in the Volcano pool) and watch "Wishes" over the castle with the music piped in is just pure magical
So, for those of you who are concerned about staying there - I say just go, relax and have a wonderful time.
Actually, my husband and I had more of an issue with the Disney parks then the hotel. Like I said earlier I'm an avid Disney fan and have been going to the parks for years and we were noticing little things that may suggest a decline in "care" of the parks. For example, we were in Buzz Lightyear and part of the wall pictures in the waiting area were peeled off. Looked like someone just peeled off half of the picture. Also, we noticed that 1 of the lamp posts at the monorail was broken and just hanging there. A few years ago you NEVER would see anything out of place and everything was sparkling new the next morning.
But that still is not going to keep me from going. I'm hooked for life.
