OK, last year when I bought TurboTax Deluxe from Office Depot for $30, I got Norton Anti-Virus Upgrade, Quicken Basic, the PA State Tax Software, a ream of paper, a shredder, and a calculator for free.

I would love to get my best "deal" again. Has anyone been watching the ads? How about we keep this thread to post any great Tax Software deals that come up? If you know of a great deal and want to share, please be sure to date your post since these deals come and go weekly.

THANKS! :)

Not that good but if you get TaxCut premium (about 20$) you get a rebate on their state version and on your filing fees.

Hmmm I'm game to give this a try. So was your deal something exclusive to office depot?

There are a variety of deals offered on amazon.com I started getting confused about which ones were combinable or not.

What do you think of Quicken?

I just went to Sam's club and they have the Turbotax Premier (business) version for $56, it also already has the state on it so you don't have to purchase that sep. The other versions like Turbotax Basic and deluxe were cheaper, I am jsut not sure of the price.

So far the best I found was at CompUSA:

Bundle: TurboTax Deluxe plus TurboTax State plus Quicken Basic 2005 plus Norton AntiVirus 2005 and eTrust EZ Armor 2005

Product Number: 21071

Was: $199.95
$29.97
SAVE $169 after:
$169.98 mail-in rebate(s)

Hope to find a little better deal :)

Well, the free Quicken, Norton, and State Tax software were available at almost any place where you could get the tax software - the information was with the TurboTax itself. The shredder, ream of paper, and calculator were only available at Office Depot and only for one week, I believe.

Last year Office Depot had a chart which told you what you could get with what.

I have used Quicken for almost 7 years now and I really like it. I was a computer novice when I started using it (and am only a step ABOVE novice now  ) and I find it very easy to use. I no longer even keep a paper register. I would recommend this program to anyone who keeps a checkbook! :)

So, anyone else know of any good deals right now? :)

Me too Janette! I would love to get another free ream of paper and another shredder to give to my oldest DD! :)

In my experience (been buying Turbo tax for 9 years) the deals are pretty much the same everywhere. All the rebates for Quicken and the nortons stuff can be found on the Turbo Tax website, so it doesn't matter which store it comes from. The only difference is some little freebies a store might throw in. Office depot gave a free calculator last year for example. I think Best Buy is offerering a free music CD of your choice this week (which irked me cuz I bought mine already this year LOL).

I'm watching the deals for TurboTax as well but haven't seen any good ones yet. From past experience, they usually start showing up in January before people are even thinking about doing their taxes.

The cheapest cost I have seen is at Costco for $14.99 for the Deluxe version with a Costco coupon.

You can get this tax software for free after rebates through 1/22/05...TaxCut Deluxe, TaxCut State, Deduction Pro and MS Money. Or for about $10 you can get TurboTax Deluxe, TurboTax State, Quicken and a Norton Anti-Virus Upgrade.

Details can be found in this thread over at slickdeals.net.

Compusa is now offering a keyboard & mouse with TaxCut but not TurboTax. Probably not worth it to switch, maybe a better deal on TurboTax next week.

Hi. I have been using www.taxactonline.com for 4 years in a row. I love this online service. I went to the irs.gov site and they have a link of suggested sites for online filing services. Taxact is the one I chose. It's easy they keep your data and the rates are pretty cheap. If you owe, which I did, you can schedule it for autodraft on any date prior to April 16. I like it and wont buy home software again b/c this is easy and cheap. I think the fee was about $15 for fed and $7 for state.

Hope this helps.

We usually use an accountant. Hubby and I both work fulltime and I sell AVON, so it's been easier. Has anybody (with a home business) used one of tax software sets? How did it work?

Thanks!

DH's brother and SIL do not own their own business but do own a number of properties that they rent for income. After years of having someone "do" their taxes, last year the got TurboTax Premier and said that it was very simple to use. They are converts to "doing" their taxes themselves. :)

(BTW - I am still waiting on a great "deal." :) I just checked my checkbook register from last year and see that I bought my TurboTax at Office Depot on January 22. So perhaps next week is "the" week. :teeth: )

There is a good deal at Office Depot. Click on the link on page 1 of these posts.... it lists all the goodies. :)

Did anyone find any great free bonus items with a TaxCut purchase other than software?

I still didn't see any exciting deals in Sunday's sale papers. Everyone seems to have the free software deals. CompUSA had a free (with rebates) wireless keyboard and mouse with the purchase of Turba Tax but we don't need another one of these. At this rate, we'll wait and buy it at Costco for $15 with their $10 off coupon.
