Great Ship But the food????.....

I can't wait for my cruise, to see if the food is good or not, got to be better then any place I've went to in New York City or New Jersey in the last two monthes, now that was the worst food I ever tasted and it would be good except it was all kind of cold or burnt

This thread is for the express purpose of expressing your experiences with Disney Cruiseline food.

Thanks for your responses.

The key is to tell them if it's bad...on our first cruise, I had no problem asking for a better serving...even a third if the second wasn't great.

We cruised on a four day trip on the Wonder in January and found the food tasteless. We were in a suite and complained to the Conciege staff. The dining room captain called us and stated that he wanted to do his best on the last night at Triton's. I stated that a couple of lobster tails might help. He stated this would not happen, I guess because did not have any. He then went on to say the the food quality is not as good as other cruise lines due to the high amount of kid's meals that are prepared. Are you kidding me? Even the pizza was substandard. We would not even venture into the buffets. On a good note we found Palo's to be fantastic. We have criused on Crystal and Princess and found this to be way substandard. For the price you pay, you would think that Disney would do better.I wrote to them and all they stated that I should have spoken to the DR staff. I really do not think they care because they are constantly booked and have enough Disney zealots out there who do not think Disney does anything wrong.

Kimberly,

Up to this point there were 95 posts including your original question. Of those 95, here is the breakdown:

1 = Didn't feel the food was good or bad
28 = Positive comments about the food on Wonder
26 = Negative comments about the food on Wonder (9 of which are Kimberly's)
40 = Non-position, or scared because you keep railing on the food, or duplicate posts trying to talk the scared off the ledge.

You have almost 11% of all the posts -all except one I included in the negative numbers. We FULLY understand you do not like the food on board. Even though DREAMFINDER2 and ALLEARS were extremely nice in trying to explain that just because YOU don't like the food, doesn't mean it's bad - it really is subjective. But you can not leave it alone - it's almost like you are just trying to create an issue. For everone's sake - leave it alone - If you want to do something positive about it, pick up the phone and call the head of DCL and have a conversation about it. We all know where you stand on this and quite frankly your message is lost at this point.

So go ahead and try to flame me now - it's what you've done to everyone on here who has not agreed directly with you.

So, we've just returned from our 6th DCL cruise (2 on Wonder; 4 on Magic). The food was incredible FOR US. The responsiveness of the crew to any meal requests was incredible FOR US. Can someone else be very devistatingly disappointed with the food and food service quality? Evidently. As I said on the previous page, maybe we're satisfied because we aren't "foodies." Given Kimberly's incessant, argumentative nature, I postulate that there's no satisfying her 'appetite' for food of the caliber she craves. I also can't help but picture an image of that 'uber-gormand' that can't be satiated. A bit different from my fitness-entwined lifestyle, I'd imagine. Maybe I should start complaining about the stairmasters in the fitness center, eh? ;> Good luck finding a cruise line with food that meets the high standards that you require, Kimberly...there'll be more that is perfectly fine for the rest of us on the Magic and the Wonder.
Oh, yeah...go ahead and flame me, too!
Buzz:cool2:

I guess I really am missing the point as I do not see how expressing one's opinion of food is "flaming". Is disagreeing with someone else's viewpoint flaming? Is stating what you experienced, flaming?
I have called no one names.
I have simply given my experience and opinion and invited others to do so.

If you like the food, great! If you don't like the food, say that as well, as a recent poster just did.

And yes, I did fill out the response card so that Disney would know what one customer thought. And no, I am not a person with unrealistic expectations from Disney. As I said in a previous post, I love the food at Disney World and I simply expect that same quality on Disney's cruises. Oh, and BTW, I've had excellent food on the Disney Magic about 3 years ago. So, that is what I'm using as a comparision. No flame intended!!

O.k. I've mentioned this before on here. I've heard people mention that the food was tasteless and bland. It's easier to add salt and flavoring than to take it away. I'm sure the food is prepared on the cautious side so as not to over season. I am a salt person, yes I know this isn't good, but I do put salt on everything because otherwise to me then all food, cruise or not, is tasteless. A friend of mine puts hotsauce on everything because the food is tasteless to her. Here's a perfect example. Last night we had corn on the cob. Of course I loaded mine up w/ butter and salt, (I really do eat pretty healthy otherwise), DH had about a 1/4 of his left. It's too yummy to go to waste, so I finished it. YUK!!! No salt, no butter, absolutely tasteless! Did anyone watch Hell's Kitchen the other night? Top chefs from around the world tasting the final contestants' food. One said, "too salty", "too dry" ,etc. The others loved it. So basically it is all an opinion. I just wouldn't keep harping on it.

OM Goodness I hope it improves we are having our first Disney cruise on the 10th of July.

Fret not thyself. To your taste buds, it might not need any improving.

Gosh. Some reactions are like someone's talking about your mamma. If you had a good experience, great. If yours wasn't stellar, perhaps the person at the next table was going into holy raptures. Or vice versa. Same kitchen, same chef. Go figure.

Seems reasonable to celebrate along with those who had great experiences. If I didn't have my tastebuds singing praises, I'm grateful for those who did. But that's just me.
