Just wanted to post a quick review of our experience at Be Our Guest. We were a party of 10, celebrating my son's 11th birthday there. We are frequent Disney visitors, passholders, and have tried just about every darn restaurant at Walt Disney World. I was so excited to snag a Saturday night reservation (months and months ago) for our group, and all of us couldn't wait to try it. I really can't fully explain it, but the whole thing felt very magical to us. The front doors of the restaurant are closed, and when they opened them to seat us, it was so special to enter the restaurant - it just about gave me goosebumps!
We sat in the ballroom, which was so pretty. Couldn't resist going into the West Wing to take a peek (which many patrons were doing). Wow, the West Wing was neat, with the rose under the glass - so well themed! The Beast came out to greet guests, and at the end of the meal, we visited the Beast in his study. When some of our group were asking why Belle wasn't there, my 4 year old niece said the cutest thing ..... "She is busy telling stories to all the kids." - referring to the Belle's story attraction next door. We thought this was so cute of her to say, and actually maybe that's really why Belle doesn't appear in this restaurant!
As far as the food, I ordered the pork, and it was delicious, especially with the red wine sauce. A few of us had the steak, which was very good. I also heard positive things about the shrimp and scallop entree. We ordered both the French Onion and Potato Leek soups - great! I think dessert is a must. I love the cart they bring around. I actually do understand some criticism others have made about wanting more elaborate desserts, such as creme brûlée. I would agree with that. I will say, though, that all of the cupcakes were delicious. I can vouch for the strawberry cream cheese cupcake, the lemon one, and the triple chocolate.
All in all, we had a really fun evening there. My son did get the "Grey Stuff" for his birthday, and it was, in fact, delicious. Really cute touch there! I think at the prices we pay, though, maybe they can bring out a few "Grey Stuffs" to every table at the end of the meal, regardless of whether it's a celebration, because I think it's so cute. It's a small amount of Grey Stuff anyway, so why not just do that? Well, maybe they don't because people will just count on it as being their dessert and not order from the cart. Who knows? Anyway, the Grey Stuff was a cute and special thing.
I think everyone should try this restaurant at least once if they can! Fun time for us, but being Disney regulars we do keep our expectations in check. (Meaning we are expecting high prices and maybe ok food in the theme parks). It actually really surpassed our expectations. Had a total blast, and I remember turning to my husband and saying, "What a fun way to spend a Saturday night!"
