Great News on My Southwest Refund!

DH called Southwest just now and was able to get $310 credited to my Disney Visa! He is much better on the phone than I am - he explained that we never changed either flight, just rebooked the same flights when Ding! fares were released. She said that she could give us the credit but only under those circumstances.

Doesn't hurt to ask!

I did the same thing for our flights...just not Ding only a price reduction. I called three seperate times and on the first two calls got the run around or wait until after you fly and then we will credit it back to you. The third time I called the girl said sure and gave me my credit back on my card within 10 minutes.

I had similar luck with Northwest last month. We originally booked with them for our 12/06 DCL/WDW trip sometime earlier last year. Thought we got a good price for five tickets. However, NWA messed with our connection and were forcing us to take on a 25 minute layover/connection in Atlanta and said they could not change it. (Originally layover was 2 hours.) Well, I got frustrated and checked pricing with our standby Southwest and rebooked with them for the same price as Northwest in order to get a direct flight with three kiddos! I took a gamble and cancelled the Northwest reservations and understood that since they were nonrefundable, then I would have to use the credit within a year. We ended up saving over $300 with alot of DINGs from SWA!

I then got to thinking about requesting a refund through NWA's website and see what would happen. Upon our return from vacation, I received a letter from NWA saying my request had been denied because new tickets had been purchased in place of the original reservations! NOT BY ME!!!! Well, on the phone I went with NWA and we ended up getting our entire $900 credited back to our credit card for five nonrefundable tickets!

Just goes to show you never know until you ask sometimes!
