I arranged for the pontoon boat in 2011 and we had a great driver and we had tons of snacks, he gave us lots of history regarding the World and he made sure we were centered perfectly for Wishes and the Electric Parade on the water...it was wonderful, however, it was a tad expensive But, it was awesome
I really want to do the pontoon boat to see the fireworks this year!! How much is it? Im trying to budget this in !!! These are all such wonderful ideas!!
I can't remember what it cost, but, there were 8 of us for a once and a life time trip and yes, it was more than I would have paid anyother time in my life, but, that is a memory I will have to my dying bed
I did the pontoon for my kiddos in 2007 and it was $225. I believe that it is now at about $300. Snacks were provided but I did factor in a tip so there's that. It was so fun and informative.
I decided to splurge on the boat but we cut back in other areas by eating in our room and taking snacks and drinks to the parks. I would definitely do it again.
Our Pontoon driver was full of info and was super great..we eventually found out that he was engaged to a lady 40 minutes from us Sorry I can remember his name but, he was great...

About how long are you out on the pontoon boat? Where do you board the boat? I am so excited about this. I want to surprise my kids and fiance with this!
My Mom and I did this a number years ago, so I'm sure some things have changed since then. But it was interesting because we got to see where they prepare the food for the animals, where they are taken care of by vets and disney staff. I was a little disappointed because we didn't actually get to see any of the animals themselves behind the scenes. I was really hoping to get to pet something (I'm a crazy animal lover) but sadly that didn't happen. We did get lunch, a special pin out of it and a "private" ride on the safari where out driver when pretty slow and stopped taking his time to show us and talk to us about the animals!
If I were going to pick a tour in the Animal Kingdom I think personally I'd go with the Wild Africa Trek, from the sounds of it you actually get close with some animals. But the Backstage Tour wasn't bad by any means!
We met the driver outside the GF..not the area where the boat arrives from MK, it's on the side of one of the building. We were at the dock at by 7:15 and we were on the water for at least 1/2 hour to 3/4 hour before Wishes. We were able to see the electric water parade and he made sure our boat was centered in the water so that we didn't miss one moment of Wishes!!! Absolutely beautiful!!! There were on snacks and drinks onboard, inclduded in the price...Enjoy...
DHS- asking to see if the key is under the matt at the 3D muppet show.
Going to the only bar in DHS to watch the opening of Disneyland on TV.
I shouldn't say this but, a quiet and always empty bathroom on the second floor of the Brown Derby.
MK- turning right on the first alcove on Main Street and listening for the tap dancing class and piano being played on the second floor. The secret room in the pirates league.
Sitting on the beach near the speakers at FWCG so yo can listen to Jimminy Cricket tell you story while it matches up perfectly with the fireworks.
Riding in golf cart during Christmas and looking at the RV's that are lit up with Mickey lights in FWCG.
Getting up early at WL and going for a run and seeing deer, rabbits, and turtles EVERYWHERE.
So it looks like I am going to eat the kitchen sink, have deserts in the MK while watching fireworks, rent a pontoon at Epcot, surprise my daughter with archery lessons and have another amazing trip thanks to the wonderful people on Disboards. Thank you so much and I hope there are more posts to come!
I know you said you have a 13 year old but when they are older or if you go when they have started college I recommend one of the behind the scene tours. It shows how the magic is done so can spoil it a little but it is so interesting when looking how they accomplish things on such a large scale.
A neat off the beaten track thing to do is the 4 seat bicycles at the boardwalk. If i remember they're around $20 a half hour. Go in the evening... its cool... quiet. Most people have cleared out. Its great to let the kids take turn steering. Much fun!
