Just thought I'd check to see how close they were to taking registrations. Looks like it is a little slower than previous years but there is a new addition the the schedule:

June 8 - 10, 2006 Arlington, TX
June 23 - 24, 2006 Chantilly, VA
July 28 - 29, 2006 Grand Rapids, MI
August 11 - 12, 2006 San Antonio, TX
October 13 - 14, 2006 Plano, TX - NEW SHOW!

Maybe we'll have to do it twice this year! If it's at the Plano Convention Center in Oct that is pretty well located for many of us :) Also no parking fees like the Arlington Convention Center.

Anyone interested in the Jun dates? I'll try to at least make some of the crops. My 11yo DD wants to go with me this year so it might be 2 of us.

What is this convention? I went to the website but I couldn't find any info and the form wouldn't open. :confused3 I'm not to far from Grand Rapids, this might be something fun to do this summer. :)

I'm going to the one in Chantilly, Virginia for the first time! Anyone local want to meet up?

Hi Janette!

I'm looking forward to the GASC again and glad you'll be there! I was happy to see the new show in October, too. I won't know if I'll be able to make that one for awhile yet, but I already have the vacation days turned in for June.

I need to get in touch with Denise and see if she still wants to do all four crops like we have in the past. We're nuts!

We're going to Disney World for two weeks in May (our Tenth Anniversary trip) so I'll have lots of Disney to work on.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Ann

Hi y'all. I'm going to try to go to at least one crop this year, maybe two if I'm lucky. I doubt I'll do any classes but I'll probably bring Ian one day to walk the show floor.

I'd love to do the Plano one, too. But I'm not sure it will work out for me this year. We're leaving for WDW/SSMC06 on the 14th after DH gets off work so I'll probably be a crazed woman packing the day before.

I checked the website and it looks like registration starts this Friday, April 7 at 10:00 a.m. MST.

Robin and Janette (and anyone else who would like to join us - Merry Poppins!) as soon as you decide which crops you like to attend, or if there are fun classes we could take together - post here!

Looking forward to seeing you!

Ann

Thanks for the heads up, Ann. I'll check out the offerings this weekend. But I'll probably just go to a crop, or two, and skip classes. I just have to work out with DH when he can take off work a little early or if I'll need to find a babysitter for a couple hours before deciding how many crops I can get to.

Has anyone signed up for anything? I'm considering the Thur & Fri Crops and there are several Epson sponsored classes on Digitial scrapbooking I might do. I have a separate post on those for a review of the classes.

There is one on making a small Disney book and one on some boxes. I was also thinking of an S.E.I. Class. I like their products and thought it might be neat for some of my professional photos.

Hi everyone,

I am absolutely doing no more than two classes per day this year. I need to save plenty of time for shopping!

I signed up for:

Thursday:
Epson Photoshop elements 10-11:30
Petalicious (SEI) 11:1

Friday:
Vintage Collage 9:30 - 10:30
Wax Transfer 12-1

Saturday:

Magic Photo Wallet (of course - got to have some Disney) 9:30 - 11
Pages by Design Embellishments 2:30 - 3:30

I went ahead and signed up for all 4 crops because Denise and I have done them all the past four years. I haven't heard back from her about her plans for this year.

I imagine they will add some more classes. They often do. I may do some switching if they add some wonderful ones, but I don't want to do too many.

Ann

I can't do classes on Saturday since this is also my 14yo DD's dance recital weekend so we'll be doing that Sat & Sun. My 11yo DD will probably be coming with me this year. This is the schedule I have so far:

Thursday:
Epson's Guide to Photo Corrections and Artistic Effects/Ballroom B 10:00AM - 11:30AM
Digital Scrapbooking Kits in PSE/Ballroom B 12:00PM - 1:30PM
Divine Secrets of the Design Sisterhood/Ballroom B 2:00PM - 3:30PM

Cropping Party/Ballroom A 6:00PM - 12:00AM

Friday:
Magical Photo Wallet/Triple Crown 9:30AM - 11:00AM
Box Inspirations/M10 11:30AM - 12:30PM
See It! Feel It! Love It!/M6 2:00PM - 3:00PM

Cropping Party/Ballroom A 6:00PM - 12:00AM

Looks like we are both in the Photoshop class on Thursday Ann :)

I'll probably go ahead and get a general admittance for Saturday so I can stop by and shop, the recital is pretty close and I should have some free time that day.

Not sure if I'll get to come in June. :guilty: Allen will be in training in New York that weekend and David is at church camp. I might be able to come down if my mom can keep the dogs and Amy? I MIGHT be willing to bring her along if she'd like to come. I'll think about it. I sort of like having a time with my girlfriends, but she's getting old enough that we might have fun.

I'm pretty sure I could swing the October one though. Allen is home that weekend. Who is planning to go to that one? Wonder if it's going to offer as many classes and have as big a show floor? Do you think it will be just as crowded?

I'll talk to Jacque and see what she's thinking. We'll get back to you.

Has anyone heard how the show in Tulsa went last year? Jacque was having trouble with her knee and I had a conflict, but I'd really love to go to that one if it was good. That's so close to me. It wasn't a GASC though. Was it CK?

Hi Melissa!

I sure hope it does work out for you and Jacque to come in June, or October. Now that I'm living in Norman we need to meet for a class or crop at the scrapbook store some time too!

I went to the CK convention in Tulsa last year and enjoyed it. I also enjoyed visiting the fun stores they have in Tulsa. I hadn't been to them in awhile and found lots of unique things.

The convention was organized similarly to GASC, but the show floor was smaller. It was crowded on Saturday, but not too bad on Friday. I recognized many of the classes from GASC, too, but there weren't nearly as many. I didn't go to any of the crops because I was on my own and was also spending time with my best friend from high school who lives in Owasso now.

If you want to stay overnight, it's really convenient to stay at the Rennaissance hotel. The convention center is connected to it.

I hope to come to the Plano convention in October. I'm the treasurer for the OU Alumni Band and as soon as we find out when OU's Homecoming is this year, I'll know if I can make it. I'm afraid it will be that weekend.

Happy Easter everyone!

Ann, we sure do need to meet and crop. I'm soooo behind. That'd be fun.

Glad you liked the one in Tulsa. I'm hoping to do that one and the Plano one. Jacque isn't home today. I'll talk to her soon and see what she's thinking.

So do you think the one in Plano will be about the same, or smaller, too?

I think the sales floor might be more crowded at Plano, I don't think the convention center is as big and they don't charge for parking so they may get even more people. It's a better location for me so I'm hoping they do well there. I could just drop by over there from work :)

Well, I'm all registered for the Scrapbook Expo in Virginia, and I was wondering, do any of you bring cameras? I wasn't sure what was "allowed". Also, do the vendors actually have things to sell - I was wondering how much cash I should bring.

Thanks for any help!

Yes, the vendors have LOTS to sell. And I always see things that I don't see at home.

I do bring my digital camera. I've taken pictures of pages in the classes I've taken. Many of the make-and-take people don't mind if you snap a shot of the finished product (and I often don't want to sit there until I have it completely finished). I also have taken pictures of the pages on display - for the contests and using papers, etc in the booths. A lot of the booths on the show floor don't want you to take photos. For example the page kit people want to sell you the kits, not have you scraplift them. Just make sure that it's okay before you snap.

Thanks so much for the tips - I really appreciate it! And great advice about asking before I snap, I'd hate for someone to think I was "scraplifting".

I finally got around to purchasing my crop party tickets. Now I just need to figure out what to do about Ian - do I get a babysitter for a couple hours before DH gets home from work, do I drop him off at DH's office on my way to Arlington, or do I request DH come home from work early? Whatever happens, I will be there ready to crop my heart out!

For anyone that's waiting to register for classes or crops, I just noticed that preregistration ends on May 27. And they're also giving a free 1-year sub to Memory Makers when you purchase an admission ticket.

Which crop are you doing Robin? I need to change my schedule, too many things going on Thursday for me to take classes. Not sure about Friday yet.

I'm signed up for Thursday and Friday crops. I'm also planning to check out the convention floor of Friday - the only day Ian is free. ;) No classes for me this year, again.
