I plan to call MS with these questions next week but I was thinking that someone here might know ....
When a DVC membership is transferred from one family member to another (not a sale but what I think is referred to as a gratuitous transfer) can reservations for upcoming trips remain in place ? And in thi situation both family members are already listed on the reservation.
Also, how long does the transfer process take? I've heard that it can be a few weeks to get through ROFR with a sale but just wondering if it takes as long with a transfer to get the waiver.

Your questions about a transfer of ownership should be directed to Member Administration, not Member Services.

The transfer would likely cause a new membership to be created, and thus any uncompleted reservations would need to be cancelled to complete the transfer process.

When I did this I was told they could transfer the existing reservations to the new member but after the transfer it could not be changed. Why not just wait until after the reservation is completed? It is easy to do a gratuitous transfer. I don't remember how long it took for the ROFR waivers to come back, but I don't think they took the full 30 days.

This is true, except for Aulani. Aulani is the only DVC condo association that permits existing reservations to remain in place if both the seller and buyer agree to it.
