I am going to DW with my mom, grandmother and three daughters in September and we will be celebrating my grandmother's 86th birthday while we are there. We are not planning on going to the parks but one day and will spend most of our time enjoying the resort (GF), eating and exploring other areas of DW. My dilemma is where to eat the three nights we are eating table service meals. We like traditional food but appreciate a fine meal. I would love to have seafood one night, but really we just want an enjoyable atmosphere and really good food.

The places I am considering so far are California Grill, Jiko's, Narcocees, and Citricos. I like the idea of taking an evening to eat at Jiko and explore AKL (I am looking to stay there in a year or so) and of timing dinner at CG to overlap fireworks in the MK.

Please help me decide where would be the best to celebrate the birthday and also, where we might enjoy going the other 2 nights.

By the way, my families' favorite restaurant the last 2 trips was the Brown Derby and we didn't really care for Spoodles when we went in 2006, but it was OK - we liked being on the boardwalk. We are not planning on eating very much at dinner, so we don't really have any interest in buffets.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

The restaurants you named are great options for a celebration. Jiko is not traditional food, it is one of the more adventurous menus at WDW. The food and service are wonderful and the AKL is a sight to see. Cali Grill is always a favorite of ours and has a broad menu. Citricos (Meditteranean) and Narcoosees (seafood) are at the GF and will offer you a relaxing walk to dinner then back to the room. Both great options. Another good option might be Artist Point at WL. Another signature with great food.

Have you thought about the Yachtsman Steakhouse? Traditional type menu, but a great experience.

Hope this helps. Happy Birthday to your grandmother!

Flying Fish on Boardwalk is lovely....I have had several great seafood meals there!!

Thanks for the recommendations.:thumbsup2 I think I have our choices figured out now. We are going to Narcoossees the night we arrive (we won't get in until around 7PM, so it will be nice to eat at our resort). Then we are going to California Grill for my grandmother's birthday and for our last night we are going to Jiko - I have looked at the menu and there are definitely things on it that I want to try.

I can't wait!:yay:
