Grand villas old key west

27 GVs with 2 being HA.

Diane, do you know if any of these have ground floor entrances? I am assuming they do, but I believe the few I have stayed in had second level entrances. I have a friend coming with us next Thanksgiving who uses a walker - not a wheelchair. She cannot climb stairs. Will I need a physician's letter in order to guarantee a ground floor entrance? Thanks

We stayed in a Grand Villa that was HA. It was great for my Father who couldn't climb stairs. It was also right next to the Bus Stop

In the GV that was HA, was everything lower - as in cabinets, beds, etc? This friend is not wheelchair bound, so I kinda didn't want the actual HA. Thanks

There may also be GVs in the 2 elevator buildings but I think all OKW GVs have stairs to the second floor rather than elevator access like SSR has so your friend will either have to sleep in the MB or on the sofa in the living room if she cannot do stairs.

There is one street level GV in building 48 that is HA. There are also 2 GVs in building 63 (elevator building), with one of those being HA. All the other 24 GVs at OKW are second floor entrance. I would have MS get you in touch with special services when you make the ressie so you can be assured of an accessible GV. The other option is to try for one of the SSR units, since they all have elevator access.

::yes::
That is the only way to guarantee that you will get one that is accessible without climbing stairs. Since the other 24 GVs are second floor entrances, you may need to confirm one of the fully wheelchair accessible ones. If you just request "first floor or elevator building", that is just a request. If someone checks in before you and asks for that or someone before you requests an accessible unit, you will be out of luck.
