Are all the Grand Villas at SSR located throughout the resort or are they only in specifics sections? I am trying to plan a family vacation for 2010 and just need to figure out if I should request a specific area or not as I am not sure of their locations.

Thank you

Got this from allears.net:

"The resort consists of studio, one- and two-bedroom, and grand villas. Each of the 12 buildings will have 20 dedicated two-Bedrooms, 24 Lock-off two-Bedrooms, and two Grand Villas. There are 46 Vacation Homes per building.

240 Dedicated 2-Bedroom Vacation Homes
288 2-Bedroom Lock-off Vacation Homes
24 3-Bedroom Grand Villas"

So, yes. I would request a specific location if you have a preference. If you don't have a preference, I personally love Congress Park (closest to DTD), followed by either the Springs or Grandstand sections. :thumbsup2

I'd just like to add to call at the 11 month mark so you get one of the GV.

I like those locations too.

Those figures are based on the original plans for 12 buildings. The expanded resort has 18 buildings.

Each building has the exact same room configurations, and that includes 2 Grand Villas per building, so there are a total of 36 Grand Villas.

The GVs are two per building and located on the second and third floors (doors are on both hallways.) Our's was Room 8240 or 1 I can't recall but it was in Grandstand section and the view wasn't the greatest from the balcony. We loved the location of our villa for everything else, and thankfully didn't use the balcony much, but there was a pine tree or something growing up in front of the balcony and the other view was mainly golf course - still pretty though. The problem I have with the balconies in the GVs though is that they're tilted in toward the side of the building so they're actually facing the other corridor of the same building if that makes sense. If you're talking location based on views, it's going to be hit or miss I think unless you request DTD specifically. One thing they did tell me about our GV is to call a few days before arrival and ask about getting your request, because with GVs they tend to assign them earlier than other rooms for some reason. Ours was ready when we arrived at 10am and we had gotten our request too. Good luck.

Grand Stand buildings are closest to the first stop on the bus route, that makes it desirable for my family that own there.

I have a GV booked for Thanksgiving 2009. I've requested Congress Park(our favorite) or the Grandstand.

We actually stayed at one by the main pool and there was a bus stop right outside of our parking lot. The villa was awesome
