GRAND OPENING - GRAND CLOSING (Florida)

I realized today that my mental thought process on this is a lot like when I broke my wrist. At first I had to be in a plaster cast. I went back to the Ortho, it was still broke, and he put another plaster cast on it. It was driving me crazy - I couldn't even wash my hands, let alone go back to doing anything I wanted, plus it was on my dominant hand so working with the bulky cast was even really difficult. The next time I went back in it was still broken but getting better. The Ortho was going to put another plaster cast on it but I demanded he put on a slimmer, removable cast instead. He didn't want to - I could re-break it if I took the cast off and did something stupid. I insisted though - I could not go through another 4-6 weeks with a plaster cast. He relented and put a removable cast on. My mental health improved immensely! I could work better, I could wrap it and go play soccer, but most of all, I could take it off and WASH MY HANDS! If I had to I could do that forever. The thing was though, I was so much happier I really think it healed a lot faster too.

I really feel the same way now about masks, social distancing etc. taken without context, those things seem really uncomfortable and there is no way I would do it. But, if it allows kids to go back to school, barbers and other businesses to open, and yes, even WDW to open, then YES, I can do this - indefinitely if need be.

3207 cases today. Even with increased testing, this is a lot. Also some bars and restaurants are having to close again after people are testing positive. Feel so bad for restaurant owners who probably spent a lot to just restock and open in the first place.

And the employees who got off unemployment, just to be off for ____ more days without pay (some places a couple of days, some have done a couple of weeks)
It is so tough and so sad!

This article (bar in Jacksonville) reminds me how easy it is to spread the virus. People not being careful and respectful of others will keep this going for a long time. I'm watching Florida and Orlando particularly for future travel.

The state opened up and said everybody was fine? I don't think so. Those infected either chose not to use precautions or social distancing and masks don't work worth a hoot. Oh wait...they didn't use precautions?!?!

My understanding they are closing for cleaning.

My October Orlando trip is looking more uncertain by the day.

After the Lynch's Jacksonville incident, the place tested all its employees and 7 were positive. (All 7 were working the night the 16 who later tested positive were there.) I have no idea if the employees were wearing masks. Obviously bar/restaurant visitors aren't as they are eating and drinking. Where I live all the restautrant employees are required to, but we are still only doing takeout.

The 40 year-old health care worker who should know better explained it -- "Murphy's Law, I guess."

Yep...either that, or Darwin's widely-respected theory of "Natural Selection!"

Watching Orlando/Orange County Update right now and Mayor Demmings just issued an Executive Order:

Every person working, living, visiting, or doing business in Orange County must wear CDC Face Covering in public starting Saturday.

What does this mean for folks going to WDW that fail to keep their masks on? What’s the fine and enforcement? That’s the other side of this.
