Grand Floridian Update

They could have done something with the master bed, that big walk-in closet and the kitchen area, I think they could have done some moving around to fit the 2nd bath into the one bedroom. Since the last few resorts built (VGC, AKV, BLT,) all have the extra bath, it is a HUGE disappointment. The bath a VGC is small but it still gave my 12 yr old niece somewhere to get ready and shower. Small stand up shower, not sure what the others have since I have never stayed at them.

BLT and Kidani have a nice 2nd bathroom off the entry. A full tub/shower combo, toilet, and sink with a vanity. It's actually really nice. It seems really dumb not to add such a nice feature at an upscale resort.

I agree.... the third bathroom is what keeps drawing me back to Kidani when we have a large group. I was hoping that VGF would have a third bath, sleeper chair and concierge :)

Aulani's dedicated 2br has a 3rd bathroom with toilet and sink only. We missed the 3rd shower option that VGC offers.

Following along with this thread....my photos are not as recent as a couple other poster's here, but a different view/angle. These were taken on March 6 from the Wedding Pavilion :

I'm disappointed there aren't two bathrooms in the 1-bedroom. Having that feature in AKV Kidani and BLT is wonderful. I have a hard time booking anywhere else because I won't get the extra bathroom.

I'm disappointed too! It seems like a down-grade to me. I was really excited about possibly staying there but not so much anymore. Maybe most owners don't really care about having two bathrooms? If you have someone sleeping in the livingroom area, it's nice having the second bathroom.

OK... I'm not the only one!

I have to say I'm SHOCKED that these villas don't have the 3 bathrooms in the 2 bd. We're a family of 5 and we need 1 bds. You know what you do when you come in the door after being out at the parks? YOU GO TO THE BATHROOM! 5 people fighting over 1 toilet is stupid!

I'm so glad that BLT and Kidani have the 2 bathrooms in the 1 bd. I thought for sure they would do that at GF. Oh well.

It is strange they did not go with the extra bath arrangement since the rooms look like they would be roomy enough for it. It does look possible that the studios and second bedroom in the dedicateds are going to have separate tub and shower but I cannot be certain from the drawings. Having going through the documents DVD filed, there is nothing particularly different from what was filed for other resorts and, as it is designated to be within the exisiting DVC, it appears rumors that some started that DVD would create a new class of DVC resorts were untrue. Moreover, there is no mention of concierge and thus that hope is shattered (the same AKV documents covered concierge).

From what I can tell, there will be 6 GVs, 47 dedicated 2BRs and 47 lock-off 2BRs and the dedicated and lock-offs are in fact right next to each other throughout. For HA, there is thus far being shown only one 2BR dedicated and one 2BR lock-off, both on the ground floor. To get to the 147 rooms that was announced when the VGF was first announced, you have to count the lock-offs as two rooms, 1BR and studio. That means it will be the smallest WDW DVC resort, since even VWL when you count lock-offs as two gets to 181. By making the rooms on the lake front GVs, it looks likely that there will be only two room categories for other rooms, lake and standard/parking lot view. Based on the guarantee for at least one night point costs given in the event of equalization, it does look like the points required for the four bedroom GV's are going to be significantly higher than the national debt and everything else will likely be approaching BLT Theme Park view cost although standard view should be less than that.

I suspect all of VGF will be very difficult to get 7 months out from end of Sep through marathon weekend in Jan, DVC's highest demand quarter when even lake view at BLT can face difficulty. Moreover, with only 47 possible studios many of which will go to 2BRs, competition for the studios is likely to be keen and they may not be available many other times of year at 7 months out, Also, if there are lower point cost standard view rooms those will likely be impossible almost all year at 7 months out regardless of size.

From what I recall, DVD started selling at both AKV and BLT within about a month after the filing of the documents it has filed for VGF and thus I suspect sales will begin by May.

I think I've found some more HA rooms. Some of them have what looks to be a tub of some kind rather than a roll-in shower (except the GV which has both). None of them show a hinged door to the balcony. The kitchen layout is slightly different in the 1BRs.

Unit 1G, room 1301, 3rd floor GV, master bathroom has a roll-in shower and a small tub.

Unit 3B, room 1309 (1BR) and it's connecting studio room 1311 both look to be some kind of HA room. Both bathrooms have some kind of tub.

Unit 4C, room 1424, the 1BR portion of a dedicated 2BR, small tub in bathroom.

^I think you are correct. I would have been surprised if it ended up being only the two I could make out.

Keep in mind DVD has not yet released the floor plans for the 5th and 6th floors. There may be more handicapped accessible villas on those two floors.

DVD has used a very good design for the HA villas at Aulani. See the photo in this thread in Aulani villa #456. Hopefully, it will use a similar design with the VGF villas.

Finding these was like staring at those "find 5 differences" puzzles. It's much easier finding the HA rooms with the hinged balcony doors!

^I know what you mean. I think I have stared at that possible shower in the studios for hours now and still can't completely convince myself it is one.

Fine for BLT, but definitely too expensive for the Flagship Resort addition. :scratchin
Truthfully it was probably not a good choice for any resort from a sales standpoint.

You actually think the extra bathroom reduced sales?

The floor plans are in the official documents of the Orange County Controller so I cannot just give a direct link but follow these steps:

Go to the following site and click Accept to get to the next page http://or.occompt.com/recorder/web/?

At the page that comes up, uncheck the check box on the right hand side of the page. In the list of things that comes up check Condo Related

In the Recording date box put 03/30/2013 to 04/04/2013

In the Either Party, Last Name First Name box put Disney Vacation Development and then click Search

A page should come up showing Condo Related document with a number and identifying it as relating to Villas of Grand Floridian. Click on the document identifier. At the next page on the left hand side you will see View Images. Click on the View in blue with a number. Wait as long as necessary for the document to come up. That is the declarations and related documents and Exhibit with the drawings of the room layouts begins on page 41

I can't imagine that the extra bathroom reduced sales. It encouraged us to add on at BLT since BCV just had the 2 bathrooms in the 2 bd. Once Kidani had the 3rd bath we thought they would continue...

But Aulani didn't have the extra bath.

I don't need another tub. I don't want an extra stand up shower. I just want another toilet!
