Last week, while I was at the Grand Floridian, I witnessed a family of six at the Courtyard pool, and they openly mentioned they were staying at the All-Star Resort. However, they had another family join them—one that wasn’t staying on Disney property at all. They were all there waiting for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) to begin. To make matters worse, they brought their own food and drinks with them, clearly taking advantage of the resort’s amenities without being guests.
I’m curious—do you think it’s okay for non-resort guests to use the pools at Disney resorts? Is this something that falls under the idea of a public space, or is it more of a privilege reserved for guests staying at the resort?
No, because Disney has made it clear that pools are for resort guests. If that was happening it should be reported…I would…and the resort should take care of it.
That is the whole point of what some have said…the lobby and transportation, as well as shopping and dining has been opened by Disney to everyone, which means when you book at a Disney resort, you know that.
Now, if Disney said that their pools are open to the public, or thst pool hopping was allowed, then it would be okay for those people because guests would have no expectation of exclusive use.
It is all based on what and how a space is designed and I am pretty sure most get that…
Many, including me, have said that Disney should ensure that they have additional transportation options available to resort guests when demand is higher than normal.
But, I have also shared that I am a regular December visitor to GF and what I have experienced has always been in line what I would consider “expected” for the holiday season…crowds and extra time to get a monorail.
TBH, our experience at the end of August, having to wait, was unusual.
