Grand Floridian shouldn’t allow non hotel guests

As Sandisw mentioned, it became a safety concern. There were numerous thefts reported, people were going on to guests' campsites and stealing items like bikes, coolers, golf carts, etc. There were also instances of guests' decorations being vandalized. But worst of all, there have been numerous accidents, because everyone gets so distracted looking at the decorations, they don't look where they are going and people (including children) have been injured so badly that they were taken to the hospital via ambulance.

The holiday decorations at FW are put up by the guests. Trick or treating on and around Halloween, is also a FW guest sponsored event. There are guests who come back year after year and put up elaborate displays for the other guests to enjoy. There is one guy who comes several times a year and sets up about 100 storm troopers and dresses them up for whatever holiday it is at the time.

The traffic in the loops can get really bad from all the people who just drive around looking at all the decorations.

There are tons of videos on YouTube for Fort Wilderness decorations. The guests really do amazing set ups.

It still is precedent to show there is a line where changes to operations become warranted.

Not my photo, but here are some of the stormtroopers.

What about all of the thefts at GF? All of you wild animals GF visitors have stolen the joy right out from under the rugs of our short monorail line.

Well Stollen bread is on the menu so apparently the proprietors of the gingerbread house are complicit

there are quite a few social media influencers who advertise that they take an Uber to CR (or BC/BW and go to gateway) so that they can use their MK walkway/security and bypass TTC. One of them is an insta influencer who stays at the Four Seasons!

I have watched people get turned away so it is hit or miss for sure.

I don’t think any of us have said WDW would not consider changing things if the situation warranted it…like at FW

The difference is that some of us who do visit during the holidays don’t agree that they need to make big time changes to stop non GF guests or those dining from visiting.

I think the walkway to Poly being closed has had an impact on monorail crowds and could be why we had lines in August…we would have normally walked back.

While it sounds like last week was unusually high crowds, most of the time it’s not thst bad.

I will be there next week for one night..we will see how it is,,but the last several years, it’s been what most should expect it to be given the Gingerbread House display

Do you think that the experience of guests who are at the park on Xmas day is the same as December 20th? They both probably paid a similar price for their park ticket…but getting a much different experience.

I will keep saying it but the monorail, lobby and restaurants are not exclusive for those staying at GF and as long as they are not, then everyone using them is in the same situation because no one has more right to it than anyone else.

Now, wanting Disney to increase the buses and boats to ease the transportation issues is definitely something they should be doing, so that those staying there have options other than the monorail.
The difference at the park is that when we go on Christmas, we can pay an extra fee for a separate queue to help our plight. We would love a separate line at the resort as well. We go many different times a year, too; mostly around holidays or spring break, and the end-of-year holidays are the best time to implement a separate line. Having a small queue outside vs almost past the elevators inside the lobby is like night and day. Disney stated that most of what they're offering in the Membership Magic Beyond are options that members had requested for a while - so they DO listen to hotel guests, but you'd have to just let them know. People doubted a "lightning lane" for the lounges would ever happen, but now there will be certain members with priority access during busy times. Everyone had free Fastpasses at the parks for so long until that changed as well. If Disney can monetize a separate monorail entry line for hotel guests, I don't see it as being far-fetched because it's not limiting the visitors.

I’m not sure your point here They do not let people park there unless they are guests..or dining reservations. Even then, I have heard they direct those eating across the street

They don’t even let Uber drop you off there most times.

Maybe there are no spots because there are more GF guests who drove this year?
My point is eventually the crowds will affect the resort guests. I’ve never seen the parking lot full where the back rows toward the poly are 100 % occupied. I talked to the check in CM and she said the resort side was full as well.

Wouldn’t it have to be implemented at all 5 stops? That’s a lot of change when it is much easier and simpler for Disney to add buses to MK and Epcot for GF guests and run dedicated boats to GF and Poly during the holidays vs shared one.

The point about the park was about realistic expectations. One expects MK to be busier on Xmas and one should be expecting it to be busier at the GF during the holidays.

Lots of things Disney can do to help alleviate the transportation for GD guests without trying to create a second line at each location for resort guests.

And honestly, I don’t see how it could work when it’s that busy at any of the resorts without causing a hazard for traffic flow. CR and PVB definitely dont seem to have that kind of space.

If the resort and DVC sides are full, then that is a lot of people and very well could be why things are as busy as they are.

It could also explain why the parking lot is full since they don’t let those not staying at the resort park.

I shared that they limited mobile order last year when I was staying to resort guests and it was still a wait. Nothing to do with non resort guests.

I would hope Disney would pave enough parking spots for worse case scenario. Maybe they sold weddings which adds to overcrowding.

Why would you need to implement it at 5 stops if it benefits resort guests? This is about access from the resort hotels. Getting onto the monorail From The Parks shouldn't need to change. And if it's only implemented for 5-6 weeks out of the year, I can't see how that's super expensive to implement. Realistic Disney expectations these days are to expect some priority access/upcharge. As I stated, you can expect crowds but you also expect it to be managed at some level. They have been managing it with upcharges/priority access. This can also happen at GF.

I don’t get the hype over the gingerbread. Taste stale and overpriced.
I've been wondering this myself. Who actually eats gingerbread? There must be 100 other treats around WDW that are more satisfying to eat than a slab of gingerbread. For that matter, what's the attraction of the gingerbread house in the first place? It's not like it's actually constructed from baked goods. Its a miniature fabricated house that people glue ginger bread on to!

That's true. My son was watching a live stream where a youtuber went back to GF 3-4X during the stream. She would leave and say, "Let's go to the Contemporary because it's not near as busy there." But then she would return, rinse, repeat. I can't understand why. NOTHING has changed on the gingerbread house since your last visit an hr ago.

Wait ………..what? Nooooooooooooooo!

This…

God knows how many pages back I call out an annoyance of mine. Disney NEVER does anything new for holidays. They dust off last years stuff and repeat

The parades

The decorations

The ginger house

Yeah it’s pretty but honestly it’s boring. Come on wdw where is the ha7mted mansion overlay Disney land gets

Why can’t you put holiday overlays on rides, stop being boring

Universal on the other hand crush holidays. Halloween, no contest. Christmas also much better in my view. Do the universal holiday tour if you can, well worth a few hours of your time

Wait ………..what? Nooooooooooooooo!
Did you really not know that the house isn't actually built with gingerbread?

If so, I'm sorry for being the one to tell you.
While we are at it, Santa isn't real either.
