I live in California, and was told by my guide that he can't discuss GFV with me yet! I was all ready to do an add on when it went on sale. Does anyone have any idea when us lowly Californians will get a chance to add on??:confused3
Thanks!

DVC would love to be selling now but each state has its own timeshare approval process. Until California approves DVD to sell the Grand Floridian, it's out of their hands.

So that restriction applies to California residents as well as their guides? My guide is based out there, but she had a guide in FL email and call me to discuss and arrange a purchase if I so desire.

To clarify, your assigned California guide couldn't sell you VGF but a Florida guide was able to do so?

I'm still considering a purchase, but if I decide to do so, yes, the guide in FL can complete it for me. Even though my actual guide is in CA. To clarify, I live in Illinois.

Yep, my guide put me in touch with a Florida guide who could complete the purchase and answer any questions for me.

Sad thing is, CA guides are getting shafted by not being able to sell.

Interested parties who have any affection for their Guide may wish to wait a couple of weeks to see if the licensing is straightened out. Prices don't go up until June 19 and there's no chance of them running out of points.

I'm sure many buyers don't really care who gets credit for the sale. But those who want to see their assigned Guide receive the credit may want to hold off a bit. Just an FYI.

I live in NJ. My guide is in CA. She connected me to a guide in FL who could talk to me and they did tell me my guide in CA would get the benefit if I purchased at VGF...

California is really slow in licensing California Realtors to sell out of State timeshares and VGF is considered a new timeshare. DVC Guides are not allowed to discuss or sell contracts for VGF until they get the OK from the State.

Per DVD Management, California Guides are not being penalized for this and they are getting full commission on sales processed on their behalf in Florida.

That's good to hear. One Guide I know in CA had apparently not been informed when we last communicated.
